LOL!!! for those who remember 'Comics' back the 60s /70s... with the little adverts for glasses WHICH COULD SEE THROUGH CLOTHES! ;)
Fb ad has offered me a 2021 version!  8) Some things do not change!  ;D

Just as well that WE do!  (Wonder if they work... LOL!)  :d

Those adverts were so inspirational, I always regretted not Leningrad able to get them in the UK. Having seen the figures now I,d only have been quite disappointed though ! Howard Whitehouse has built some nice armies of the AWI figures

Great find, Nobby. Ah, the nostalgia. I'd almost forgotten these. But now that these are before me again, this is exactly how I remember them (the shape of the Roman helmets, the Revolutionary War battle scene, etc.) probably because I used to stare at them so longingly. It was only in later years that I discovered they were flats.

Now, years later, I'm wondering why that speeding chariot is careering headlong into that city wall and if that the cannon in the AWI scene is breaking the rule on overhead fire .....    :D  

For Mrs Westie, her memory and something she always wanted was some little monkey like creature in a cup ...
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

Davey....If you're into nostalgia....Try and catch "The Harpoon"...the next time radio 4, or 4 extra broadcast it.

It's a 'radio version' p*sstake of the comics from days of yore......And somehow it works.

I don't remember those ads, perhaps not quite old enough, but they look great. But having googled what the figures actually look like, they look mightily disappointing in the plastic  :(

I'm glad my first figures were Britain's and Airfix 1/32nd plastics.

I'll second Phil's recomendation - "The Harpoon" is excellent. So is "Beachcomber by the way"

I had a set of 1/72 "Greeks & Trojans" which were clearly 1/72 knock-offs of the Britains Herald 1/32 ones (see below). It included several chariots. The cardboard topper on the plastic bag they came in showed one of the chariots charging the walls of what was presumably meant to be Troy despite looking decidedly medieval. Clearly charging fortifications with chariots is a viable tactic :D

Have to say, my "falling asleep offerings, from Auntie, while the radio's on", have been a little less than inspiring recently. :(
