Graham (Sunjester) and I were discussing bankers after our game (the news was on in the background, and apparently bankers can stop apologising, which implies they started at some point).

All the cheap stuff is produced by China.
Bankers threaten to relocate the minute you mention things might be their fault.
We need an economic base.

Solution.
Force the world to wargame 10mm
The basic unit of currency will be the Pendraken

1 Cavalry = 2 Infantry
there are 15 infantry to the Gun and Limber.

Rules would be needed to stop speculation in the SF and Fantacy currenmcies.
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Now that's one of the best suggestions I've heard this year (I know... it's only January!)  Now who's got the Chancellors number?!

:D
www.pendraken.co.uk - Now home to over 10,000 products, including nearly 5000 items for 10mm wargaming, plus MDF bases, Battlescale buildings, I-94 decals, Litko Gaming Aids, Militia Miniatures, Raiden Miniatures 1/285th aircraft, Red Vectors MDF products, Vallejo paints, Tiny Tin Troops flags and much, much more!

But Leon

a) No one would elect you - so cant be chancellor

b) Your BA failed was in maths, so you can add, cant be Chancellor.

c) No one could understand you - whoops means you can

While I like your idea, thinking back to my Economics 'O' Level,  I can foresee a few problems:-

What about conversions? If I mount a foot figure on a horse does it double in value and what happens if I carve a rider of a horse?

If Pendraken's growing popularity requires Leon to cast more figures, would that not cause a devaluing of the figures? Before we know it people would stop using 10mm as a currency and might start buying inferior plastic GW currency!  :-q
Life is too important to be taken seriously.

To prevent this happening we would need to adopt the Lead Standard. Leon can only circulate figures equivalent to the total sum of lead mountains held on deposit by British wargamers.

Well with heady qualifications of an Economics O Level (I bet George doesn't have one) you'll know that this is a manufacturing process known as 'Adding Value' - you are giving up time etc to increase your net worth.

Does this mean that Baccus figures would count as small change?

And, unfotunately you seem to have forgotten about the wargaming world's equivalent of the USA - GW, dedicated to world domination by the application wierd religions and the use of extreme, right wing economic policies backed by the strength of the almighty "Space Marine" currency. :d
