Hey, Ho.

Just going outside to brave the wind*  X_X.....The 'field' animals need checking =)

Can't decide whether it's a waste of effort to put any feed out for the wild birds, this morning. :-\

1) The feed's going to get blown all over the place, and probably washed away by the rain.

2) Are any of the birds actually going to be flying around this morning ?...Or are they going to be sensible (unlike me) and just hunker down ?

I think I'll put a little bit of feed down and see what happens....If the poor little sods ARE out in this, they'll need something to keep their energy levels up !

* I may be some time. ;)

I got wet. ;D

But nowhere NEAR as waterlogged as I thought I'd get.

Very windy....But we've definitely had a lot worse, in the past. (To the point where I could barely stand upright......That wasn't the case this morning.)

The lid on one of the water butts had gone for a wander....and the biggest of the bird seed holders had done the same....few small branches down in the road. (Big twigs, rather than branches. ;))

Bit of damage to some of the slats on the barn......Another repair job in the Spring.  =)

Most of the wild birds have decided to 'stay in bed' ...a tiny handful came down, to get some grub.

Just had a quick look at that live feed......Nowhere near as 'nasty' as it was earlier......But then, the tide's going out.
Saw three people going to the very beginning of the breakwater.......and they didn't appear to get wet, at all.
One chap, who I'm sure was taking piccies,didn't get any remotely spectacular shots as far as I could tell.

I'm going to have  trawl round the net and see if I can find anymore feeds from around the coast.

Really, really windy here with the strongest gusts we've seen for over 10 years. Our neighbours fence blown down with the posts snapped off at the base. Other fences wobbling rather alarmingly. Not looking forward to cycling to work tomorrow as it'll be a head wind all of the way and it gets funneled up the Avon valley, which makes it even worse.

Wet and wild in the Midlands atm. Sounded much worse last night! No traffic which is unusual - but our fences are so far intact which is amazing as we've one panel that pops if you sneeze at it!

(Later found it down the street. I had even put it on its side on the basis it was going to end up that way anyway, with the lid jammed shut. It was empty so I assume the bin men had been.)

Storm, what storm?

Been a touch breezy and a lot of rain.

Roof is still in place as is the garden fence.

Buckets are unmoved.

Checking out the sunscreen just in case :)

Just went out and secured the usual culprits. Trampoline, garden furniture and the little one's slide. Luckily i have a BIG supply of concrete 60 x 60 paving slabs. I removed them when i bought the house, but put them to the side. Very handy for putting on things and keep them down!

The worst of ciara is supposed to hit Belgium this evening so fingers crossed!

I think the worst just blew past here. Outside was not so much a shower as a bath...

Popped a fence panel -  of one of the usual suspects, oddly, but I'll have to get the neighbour involved to pop it back in. Assuming it hasn't exploded...

Our garden is OK, other than a few pots blown over, but the whole fence is down (and shattered) next door but one. Fortunately our neighbour's landlord finally got around to replacing the rotten fence post on the fence next to us in the summer - it had been rocking around quite dramatically last winter.

Another neighbours fence panel gone. It's just been pouting down and the winds have been gusting like nobody's business, followed by sudden lulls. It's started to swing round now so other parts of the garden will take a beating :(.

Wind's just started to pick up again...having been through a relatively quiet period for two or three hours

Haven't seen anything like the amount of rain other parts of the UK have had.

Hi

Just had an e-mail from my son's teacher to say no school (near Radstock, Somerset) tomorrow as the roof has blown off (partially at least)!

Just wondering if I can entice him into a Napoleonic game set in Germany, that will cover missing History, French and Geography, and if I can get Congreve's rockets in there as well that will be Science. Just need to figure out Philosophy and Belief........ :-

Philosophy - a well read officer (hah! They'd be in commerce, the church or government if they were well read, I know ;)) would have a passing knowledge of the classics, at least. Easy!

Seen the sad news on the IWM hangar at Duxford? Roof's coming off, there's a nine mile closure on the M11 it's so big. The Vulcans there, and Concorde, and... :S
