Harry Greig:

Goalkeeper for Manchester United, Northern Ireland and picked for the 1958 World team.

Better known for his actions at the Munich air disaster.
Having escaped the wreckage he returned to remove at least 4 survivors despite warnings that the wreck was liable to explode.

That's something worth being remembered for.

A real shock to here she had died and once again, far too young.

That's a great shame.  :(

"Mad" Mike Hughes....Killed when his homemade (steam powered ? :o) rocket came back down to the ground much earlier than it should have.

(No....I hadn't heard of him either)

Mr Hughes was apparently trying to fly high enough to prove (to himself, I imagine) that the Earth was either a flat disc or a 'sphere'.

I'll have to investigate this 'flat Earth' theory, and see what the logic is behind it.
Apart from saying that all 'space travel' is faked, I'd love to know what the arguments are supposed to be.

Cheers - Phil

The flat earth shower are a bunch of psychological misfits.

Well,  he certainly proved that the earth is very hard  :o

As far as I can tell, it's an example of a conman's test to filter out the smarts form the marks.

Techno

I expect he'll be put forward for the Ig Nobel prize for physics. X_X

Cheers - Phil. ;)

Lord Kermit of Birkenhead

The Flat Earth Society are a special kind of conspiracy theorist, almost immune it would seem to the basic premises of science.  My eldest decided he needed a hobby last year and set himself up as the Oblate Spheroid Society on Twitter so that he could troll (annoy) the Flat Earthers.

Good for him, Leon. :) :-bd :-bd :-bd

Good grief.....They're so far off the blanking wall, I almost wonder if it's an 'anti-conspiracy' theory.

Completely and utterly frigging barking

Yep.....Sod science. ;)

Cheers - Phil. (I did note that some muppet (not Ian) was trying to raise certain funds to prove their theory correct.....I don't know how much they were trying to raise..(Lots) ..but they seem to have made $2,000.....$1,000 of which had been donated by the erm.....chap*....who started it.

Cheers - Phil (Gimme strength) ;)

*Or complete .....erm....twit (sic)

They're all nuts, completely out there.  The number of videos on YouTube where folks have sent a Go-Pro up on a balloon, which clearly show the curvature of the planet, should be something of a hint for them.  Or any other simple experiment like the rising of the sun, which would happen at the same time for all of us if the world was flat...
