QuoteSo sorry for the late reply! Been occupied with our two new kittens we got, so I totally forgot to check back with you.

I have to apologize, as my memory served me wrong. These are actually rather compatible! The Pendraken miniatures are from the late medieval line. [EDIT:] Under a closer inspection the Bravados are slightly taller!

No problem! Thanks for the images! They do indeed appear to scale fairly well, at least by my standards - I have those Pendraken minis so I get a good sense of the comparison in size. I was more concerned about the Bravados being overly chunky than the height, which is not too bad and if I need to I can correct it  a bit by trimming the bottom of the feet slightly (I tend to put a lot of grass and stuff round the feet anyway so it won't get noticed!)

Thanks again! Lovely board as well  :)

An alternative to deal with height is to add a shim under the Pendraken figures to make them taller ;)

I did this when mixing League of Augsburg and ECW officers on the same base

I agree with the others that it looks pretty damned good as is 8).

Had a friend 3D print me this piece, that I painted for a boardgame that I've got pre-ordered.

Very nice!

Be interested to hear what you think of Root. Have considered getting it myself at some point, though as most of my board gaming friends now live further away and have young children not sure when I'd actually get to play it.

Ithoriel

I've played a few games of ROOT and enjoyed them whether I did well or not.

We used the added players expansion as well.

I like the asymmetry of play.

Don't let the "Tales of the Riverbank" theme put you off. Some skill, a little luck and the unwitting assistance of your opponents is required.

Yeah! Really excited about this game, also kickstarter backed their other project called Oath: Chronicles of Empire and Exile.

In Oath, after every game you need to write up the "story" that you just played. And in the next game the story from the earlier game will affect the board.

@Mmcv: There's a refined player bots Expansion for Root (The Clockwork Expansion). Where you can go and add any number of "AI" opponents. Also I've heard the game works alright in 1 v 1 if you play the high "reach" factions (The most Militant ones).

@Ithoriel: I suppose Root is best when players are yet to learn the game, as I've heard it gets rather stale when everyone is just going for the "meta" strategies? So hope we'll stay newbies for a good while! (I also bought all the expansions so that we can add more races to the mix to keep the gameplay loop fresh and exciting)

In non-Covid times there were five or six of us. All buying games regularly. If you played a game more than a couple of times it was something spectacular. Stale wasn't a problem :)

If you're after a good fun fantasy Mini's game (That isn't Pendraken's also excellent Wsrband!) try Oathmark from Joe Mc - I'm currently playing in 10mm, using 80mm unit bases, 1" = 1.5cm and tracking casualties instead of figure removal.

It's a fairly gritty sort of fantasy Dark Age setting with racially/culturally mixed up kingdoms so you can have Patrician style Elves ruling masses of Orc-Goblin foederiti, expansionist Human armies with dwarf mercenary's & goblin wolf rider scouts etc.
