Based up my test unit of gael tonight - a small retinue of seasoned highlanders from Clan MacDonell of Glengarry who fought at the Battle of Alford.

Trying to depict them making a "highland charge"......you can tell me how successful I have been once I finish adding some flocking and colour the edges of their banner from Pendraken's PNFL 114 flag sheet. 

I reckon they look pretty good overall.....the gentlemen who painted them must have tracked down some tartan paint after all  ;)

Almost finished up the MacDonnells but decided to order some tussock clumps from a local supplier to add the bases to differentiate the highlanders from their lowland neighbours. Should hopefully arrive tomorrow.

Other clans represented in the first batch will be Camerons of Lochiel, Stewarts of Appin, Campbell of Argyll and Campbell of Auchinbreck.

Staying between the lines of neutrality on these by doing some clans from each side as I know local gamers with surnames of Campbell, Gordon and Cameron  ;)

The "highland tuft set" arrived so I applied a few different clumps to each base without getting too carried away.....really adds to the overall look of the unit....a good investment for around 10 quid  :-bd

I will try and take some pics but the weather is not supposed to be too good for the next few days.

Basing up some more highland stands tonight now I have all the stuff I need to finish them.

I've only ever painted highlanders in 6mm; the issue of how to paint tartan (or not) being a tad off putting. What technique did you use or decision did you make when it came to representing tartan at this scale?
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

Indeed, well done P&P! Worth the wait. First time I've seen the Pendraken flags used and they turned out rather good as well.
