Nik isn't allowed to paint  Clibs figures.  Just makes the rest of us go "What's the point?"
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

The site could always show a few pictures of my painting. That should raise your self-respect severl notches by comparison.

Well, I've just finished my Ming army, so a bit on the yellow side.

In all seriousness if its a comp. for a prize anyone should be able to enter IMO yes it means that the same people may win time and time again.  But if you say people X Y and Z cant win because they are amazing.  Then after a while do the people who are better and winning then get banned and so on.

I understand the reasons behind wanting to limit the field i just disagree.

Thanks
Brian.

All mingers?  :D

I'll get my coat  :-[

Leon has taken the rather smart move of appointing some of the better painters as judges. So not only do they have a good eye for a good figure, they can't enter as they are judges. A win-win situation.

Well apart from some of the puns....

I'm just in it because competition makes you give your best, and I will pick up a thing or two in the process.  Plus your gonna put out your very best painting, which always looks nice(r) on the table afterwards.

Thought we painted to tell who is who on the table - it's not a beauty contest, and let's be honest, ugly people don't win beauty contests. Anyway it isn't always the pretty army that wins the battle! :-\

Interesting...I don't agree though [apart from the bit about pretty armies winning]  ;)

I paint for many reasons:
- to relax
- to enjoy myself
- to see how well I can paint
- (sometimes) to see how quickly I can paint
- to practice / learn / develop new techniques
- to help fund my hobby
- to make my toys look nice...not just to see which are which
- to impress people
- to spend time at home
- to have a tangible sense of achievement
- to help others enjoy their painting
- to help others get into wargaming - in its widest hobby sense - not just gaming

I agree with much of what Nik says.

For me, I may not be the greatest of painters but I always try my best especialy if my armies are going to be used in public - the vanity of the wargamer  ;)

Some of the finest painters I've met have been total rubbish on the table - and some of the most fiendishly effective players used figures that looked as if they'd been done with a eight-inch paste-brush. The real b*****d is the guy with the terrific figures who tramples all over you. :(
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

Hmmm...Poles, Samurai...it often IS pretty armies that win battles before the game has even started.
