With the new year I wanted to begin my painting diary thread anew and with the proper name. Because of the conjectured problem with lengthy threads (among other things) and since Adam is alleged to have said to Eve on first sight, "Stand back! I don't know how big this is going to get!", it seemed also a prudent action.

I used a double apostrophe in the title (the single apostrophe perhaps being the issue in posting the previous thread). If the thread title posts in full then that is a work around.

I've been intensely working on resurrecting my old Kriegspieler Napoleonics to use them with a One Hour Wargames campaign (thanks to Norm for the Inspiration). This meant reorganizing a small British and Russian army, basing them, making a portable 3' x 3' board, making all the terrain features and collecting the game aides in one place.

I then had to find a suitable background for an imaginary campaign - the Baltic 1809 ( where Russia and Britain where actually fighting a low intensity war) - make up a story - and organize the OHW scenarios to drive the campaign. I'm about halfway through this last bit.

The Battle of Benburb is setup in 10mm on the dinning room table (my wife insisted on certain concessions!) and I will get back to it soon.

There is also the Iliad project and the Space Infantry project  (both in 10mm) in various states of completion (it is this flitting about that causes me to admire PaulR - and many others for their "stick to it 'till it's done" approach)

The FPW project is still there (with a mountain of Pendraken lead) and I may convert this to a OHW format so it looks less overwhelming.

There is, of course,  my historfantasy 1457 campaign sitting there waiting for Pendraken Aztecs to materialize. I may add some Jack Vance Dragon Masters stuff (thanks to a lot of great suggestions from the denizens of this forum).

And last but very far from least is the extension of my primary interest area to 1670 - 1692 using the wonderful Pendraken LoA figures.
Much of the regular forces (The Royal army at Sedgemoor and MacKay's army at Killiecranckie) is in the process of being farmed out to a Toxic Pixie for painting. I continue to work on Monmouth's army.

As soon as I finish the 1809 stuff and refight Benburb (probably) I'll start posting pictures.


Dang - I forgot - on New Years Day I took a break, dug out a bunch of my old ECW 25mm and individually based about thirty of each side  to use with "Pikemen's Lament" when it comes out next month.

After spending the last month or so getting many of my larger scale figures organized, touched up (including some repainting), and based to play One Hour Wargames, I finally got back to painting Pendraken 10mm's.

I have BatReps almost ready to go for One Hour Wargaming (OHW) 1809 and 1643 but not sure if they should go in the regular BatRep catagory since they are neither Pendraken nor 10mm. Maybe someone could tell me?

Interesting conversions, d_guy. Are these pike wires hollow?
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

Westie, the pikes are cut from 0.032" (0.81mm) straight brass rod.

Norm, if I hadn't watched your "Christmas" videos I would not have considered OHW for much of anything since I was more interested in Blackpowder at the time. OHW is now providing a vast amount f entertainment, so thank you.

What I am currently painting (a sloooooow process):
Pendraken 10mm
1. The Lyme Independent Company of Monmouth's Army
2. Monmouth Command Group (using the LoA 35 vignette, an additional LoA mounted figure, and two of Phil's sheep)
3. A piper for Dumbarton's Foot (Sedgemoor) pieced together from most of an LoA pikeman and both arms, a shoulder and a bagpipe from a Minifig 10mm)

In this project (1660-1692) I still have to start on Monmouth's Green and Yellow Regiments plus some of Lord Grey's rebel horse. I will then turn to doing elements of the Dorset, Devon and Somerset militias.

Toxic Pixie ( https://www.facebook.com/jtppainting ) has in hand my order of a bunch of Pendraken 10mm LoA to be painted as James II's Army at Sedgemoor and a goodly portion of MacKay's Scots Government (Williamite) Army at Killiecrankie.

My 10mm armies for 1638 - 1660 engaged on Celtic Fringe are completed.
These are mostly (around 75%) Pendraken comprising Scots Covenant, Irish Confederation, Anglo/Irish, Scots Highland, various (militias, fencibles, clubment, etc) and English New Model. Many can assume different identities (e.g. Montrose's Royalists) by swapping flags. I may add a few specialty troops but no real need at the moment.
