From what i understood of it, they can do one action that fits their type of unit. So regular infantry can shoot for example..

Yes, that's the way it works.  Unlike Lion Rampant, units' activation roles depend on their leader, not the action type so the free actions bring back a bit of flavor for units.

Thanks chaps. There are a couple of buildings aren't there! But the foot print of most of them is fairly small.

I've done a fair bit of reading of TMWWBKs in the last couple of days and like the look of it. My only concern is over fragility of units as most take 1 wound per hit compared to DR where it's always 2 or more hits to cause a wound. But I suppose this is easy to change if needed.

I'm thinking of using 30mm square bases (or maybe 40mm squares). For 30mm squares use 4 infantry or 2 cavalry. And units would have the number of trooos for the 28mm game i.e. 12 European infantry, or 8 cavalry, so 3 or 4 bases respectively. If I went with 40mm bases the base count would stay the same, but the figure count would go up - which means more stuff to paint.

Sci Fi Buildings

Got these finished off today

Then as I was tidying them away spotted one that had escaped the photo-shoot, at least it was painted.

I'm pleased with how these have turned out, with a fairly limited colour palette. Ready for some city fights now!

For my benefit the colours used were
Army Painter Desert Yellow, main colour
Green Grey for flat roofs and other light grey areas
Neutral Gray for vents and fans
Medium Sea Grey for metal shutters
Dark Prussian Blue for domes

Nicely done Forbes.
Can I ask a favour? What size are Epic objectives meant to be?

I don't think it is defined. We tend to use 25mm to 40mm round bases for them.

30k Imperial Fists

Did a quick bit of finishing off of these tanks - mainly tidying up missed bits of yellow, and dry brushing gun metal on the bolters, and grey on the tracks.

For the Tyranid floating spores highlighted the red.

I really like the buildings.   Especially the simple but not boring color scheme.

fred.

Thanks, they do seem to have come out well, and very quickly.

Had a bit of a think about what painting I could progress that would get me units on the table, that would add to current armies or quickly make playable ones.

This was the rather long list that I came up with:

Farm animals
Beastmen
Squat AA guns, rhinos
Nid Warriors, carnifex
Marine tracks
Hedges
Trident realms - crossbows and bolt throwers
LoA cannon and commanders
Araby archers and crossbows
Lizardmen basing, flyers

These are probably in order of likelihood of happening.

As to this year's aims. Well I'm not certain, 6mm sci fi and LoA should continue. More terrain feels sensible. But there are a lot of unpainted figures sitting around.

I'm going to be selling a painted Kraytonian army, a painted Pax Arcadian army and an unpainted Andrayan Army in the new year. There will also be quite a bit of sci-fi terrain going up for grabs too.
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

Ithoriel

Anyone know if Dark Realm Miniatures are still in business? There's a new looking website that doesn't seem to work and their figures seem to be vanishing from other companies webstores. Was after a few more Skyth just wondering if I need to start scouring EBay or if I'm missing an obvious alternate website - perhaps my Google-fu is not what it once was.
There are 100 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data

fred.

Nosher - I could certainly be tempted by some of those.

Lemmy the models are 6mm from DRM, hence Ithoriel's post

I last bought from DRM  in Feb. And I'm not sure what is  going on with their website, the old one was a bit odd, but worked and had photos, the new one seems very incomplete. Have you dropped Doug an email? It would be a shame if they have gone, as they have some nice stuff.
