We've just started using Foundry's 'Medeival Warfare' rules.

Has anyone else used these?

What are your thoughts about them?

Yep really quite interesting and packed with period flavour.

As with actualy medieval battles you have to get the deployment right because redeploying is an absolute nightmare to acheive.

That said...avoid the Foundry edition like the plague.  Its absolutely riddled with errors, poorly explained and inconsistent rules.  Badly written to the point of unplayability.

The Saga edition is far better (although still has a few holes), so if you're thinking of delving, go with that version i'd say.

There is a Yahoo group that supports the rules (mainly Saga edition), but we found the people there generally rude, unhelpful and dismissive of any questions.  shame really... :(

However, overall they're a jolly good ruleset that really achieves the 'friction' of medieval warfare.

Greetings

It's a while since I played them - I have the Saga version and an army list set - but thought they had quite a bit going for them.  I'll have to have another go at some point.

you can get the fast play versions of the original Terry Gore rules for ancient and medieval warfare from the yahoo group SAGAWarfare----personally I prefer the fast play versions then the original Gore rules--the GW version is poorly proofread
