Enjoyed the report, thanks. Have only played the 2nd edition but it sounds like horse and obstacles have similar rules in both editions.

My preference is very much for the first edition, especially the pre-game campaign. In second edition the campaign is too abstract and seems very much like the one in Blucher, which I just don't get.

I so wanted to like ROF but was bitterly disappointed when 2ed materialised.

It's just not a good game IMO  :'(

I like most of the RFCM games but this one missed its mark

I problem I have found repeatedly with RFCM. I really like AK47 Republic, but the latest edition in pants!
