Once again, France is on the frontline. This time it is the city of Nice. Speechless. Thoughts and condolences to all.  :(

P.S. One of my daughters is currently in Paris. Last night there was a lot of police activity. She said there was a terrorist alert in progress. She was told to go back to her hotel by "a policeman who was hiding with his gun behind a board." She had to go around the back of the hotel before being allowed back into the area. The police told her they were stopping "cars and vans." We received word from her at 8.11 GMT last night. According to the BBC, the attack in Nice started shortly after 8.30 GMT which makes me wonder if they had intel of an imminent attack by this method but did not know where. * 

* Probably not so, however, as I have subsequently found out from the BBC that earlier this week, France's DGSI internal security organisation warned of the danger of further attacks from Islamist militants with "booby-trapped vehicles and bombs" and so, the police operation in Paris last night may have been connected with that.
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

Nice does demonstrate the difficulty in preventing acts of carnage, when one hell bent on mass murder needs only something as commonplace as a truck, and the mind set to use it in such a horrible way.
