As a WW1 gamer today holds a special, if not somewhat specterial place in WW1 history for me - the 100th Anniversary of the first day of one of the icons of WW1 - the Battle of the Somme.

The British army alone suffered 57,470 casualties, including 19,240 deaths on the 1st July 1916, the highest ever casualty rate ever sustained by that service.

So here's remembering those from all sides who fought in the battle.

Indeed. A sombre day.

I listened to the whistles on my way in to work. Very chilling.
