My 1944 Brits fare a lot better now that I've beefed up the off-table artillery with 5.5" howitzers other assorted nastiness.

All those years throwing Shermans at Panzers and every history book told me that artillery was the way to go!

Back in the WRG Modern days one guy apparently used an unstoppable human wave Chinese army, no tactics, no fun to play

Until the day his opponent turned up with an FAC, B52, Nukes :d

I am generally most confident about winning with the army I am currently buying and painting.  Once the result hits the table it's pretty much down hill.

Took part in the Warmaster Ancients completion at Attack in Devises a couple of weeks ago.

Hugely enjoyable show, very friendly games and excellent beer and curry in the evening.

By lunch time on Sunday I had an ALMOST unassailable lead, my Assyrians had shot, fought and trampled all before them; Victory was in my grasp, all that was required was at worst a loosing draw, a mediocre showing (which I'm quite accomplished at) would clinch victory.

However Ashur is a fickle master, after a couple of minor successes early in the game the Mighty Assyrian Army was unable to command anything, shoot anything, fight anything or save anything.

After an hour I'd been broken and gone down to an 11:1 defeat and dropped to 3rd place.

I no longer have any confidence in any army I own, but it won't stop me trying, just not with the Assyrians for a while.

FierceKitty

Good control and shooting, but oh, how one longs for a few lances, pila, pikes, LTS, or 2HCW with that lot.

Since you were playing Fran, also from Lancaster, that must have been a long, quiet journey home!

He surged to the top of the table and won.

But it took him a weeks and half to walk home.
