I'm sure that's the story line of Star Wars, I remember going to see it.  What all this about Episode IV?

It was always called Episode IV...
(I know, even though it's fantasy  :o  ;)  )

I'm no expert and don't understand what all the hype is about but according to Wikipedia the original film was released in 1977, simply  titled 'Star Wars'.  It was subtitled 'Episode IV: A New Hope' in 1981, after 'The Return of the Jedi' was released.

I went to see Star Wars in 1977 and I'm sure it was episode IV even then, as I remember we were all rather puzzled as to why.

It was certainly being referred to as the fourth episode in the Star Wars saga in the movie press well before it was launched in cinemas. For me the puzzling aspect was why he was starting the story in the middle.

Cor Blimey, I stand corrected  >:(.

Although I'll always think of it as 'Star Wars'; as my farther was want to say "My mind's made up, don't confuse me with facts."

Well now we have Episode 3 1/2 to look forward to this December. All getting very confusing, but at least Darth Vader's back. Incidentally you can tell Lucas hadn't got his ideas properly worked out when Alec Guinness refers to Darth Vader as Darth, as if it's his first name, rather than a Sith title. Oh dear, I really am beginning to sound geeky now.

Perhaps it could now be taken as being sarcastic?  :D
