Apparently the number of this type of death this year has reached the total for the whole of 2015, according to The i newspaper.

There was a section on this on Radio 4's More or Less last week.  They looked at the trend, using 'proper' obituaries published on the BBC website (as opposed to mentions of a death in a news report) in the first quarter of the year.

They went back as far as 2006 IIRC and concluded there was a general trend upwards, but that there was a huge jump this year with more than the total of 2014 and 2015 combined.

Now that is one reality TV programme I would watch Daily installments of minor celebrities being knocked off......

Yes it's a bit weird that so many celebrities have passed away this year, but if there is one thing certain in life it is Death. It comes to all and is no respecter of wealth, fame or indeed poverty.

I'm personally getting a bit bored of the hype surrounding celebrity deaths and the public outpouring of grief like they knew these people personally.

Wouldn't surprise me. With the TV adaptations rushing towards series 6 what does Martin do? Writes a Game of Thrones prequel. go figure.
