Well here is first representative infantry for my foray into the Franco-Prussian War.  As always sorry for the photo quality (iPhone) but it helps to hid a number of imperfections:

Plan to start on representative light infantry next - with the long range view of having two French Corps, two Prussian Corps, and one Bavarian Corp by the sesquicentennial!  :)

Incidently I did darken the Bavarian blue a bit - true color is to close to NC Tar Heel powder blue  :o

This time I actually freehanded them (usually print and/or print and paint) I bought the F and P with the sculpted flags (which are nice indeed).
The Bavarians came with only the pole but I've got a couple dozen ECW sculpted flags which I had cut off to add my paper ones - cut these down to size then scribed in fringe border. The next ones I'll glue 180 deg to this one so you can see it better.

Looking good  :-bd

But you can't have taken those pictures from an iPhone - the images aren't showing sideways  ;)
Rimmer: "Aliens."

Lister: "Oh God, aliens... Your explanation for anything slightly peculiar is aliens, isn't it?

Rimmer: "Well, we didn't use it all, Lister. Who did?"

Lister: "Rimmer, aliens used our bog roll?"

Lovely work! But you needn't have scribed the fringe border - neither the Bavarians or Prussians had a fringe on their infantry flags,  ;)

Thanks! That'll save some time! Plus at this stage easy to correct - well - looks like more references to buy :-\

what rules are you using?
Lehman recommend both "1870" and "BBB"  I am basing using "1870" as a guide - one base = one battalion and this is probably the set I'll use for the level of granularity I generally want to do. If I decide to do the larger battles ( which was my original plan) I'll jump up to BBB where my corps roughly become armies. Playing solo 99% of the time gives me great latitude.

Sorry Leman! Lehman = Leman in my bizarre mind - Shearson Lehman handles my pension - may the law never catch up with them but may carbuncles...oh never mind!
