If I disappear tomorrow...

My button hasn't actually disappeared, Nobby....It just doesn't do anything, since this morning.

(Apart from going green).

And to think a few days ago, on a survey, I told Microsoft that I was quite impressed with the new system......And gave it four out of five 'stars'.
I'd be pushing it to give it a single point, the way I feel today.

Ta Andy.

Might have a go at a couple of those later.

I tried one 'powershell' fix yesterday, where I was typing in code.
All that seemed to do was run a full diagnostic to look for bugs....Which it didn't find, so I didn't go to the next step, as there didn't appear to be any to fix.

I can still get at the important 'things' I mostly use this PC for...(At least, at the moment)..Though in some somewhat roundabout and irritating ways, so I can live with it until Matey comes round from the computer shop.

Nobby's told me that his machine has this same sort of problem on a fairly regular basis.
Sometimes it plays nicely...Other times it doesn't.

I want to go back to Windows 8.  X_X

Windows 10 recognizes the 15/20 year old Pentax camera...... (Without having to do diddly squat)
The 'posh' 5 year old Cannon ?.....Nah....It doesn't want to know that one.
(Windows 8 liked it.....No problem.)

I don't.  ~X( ~X( ~X(

With the Cannon, I'm wondering whether I should load its software  :-\ .......Which I certainly didn't have to do with '8'.
Only time the software got used was with XP on the previous PC.

Trouble is.....With the problems I seem to be having with '10', I worry about making something else play silly b's.

I work on them most days and it can be hard work. I've only recently upgraded to windows 10 although  I'm finding it relatively easy to get used to. There's still that learning curve.

But to be honest I was perfectly happy with xp it did everything I wanted and as far as I was concerned it wasn't broke

Take care

I can certainly 'get by' with what I've got, Andy.

It's just the continuous hiccoughs this new system seems to chuck at you.

Took me about a week to feel comfortable, changing from XP to Windows 8....and I really liked Windows 8.
Windows 10 doesn't appear to be far removed 8, which is why I feel so frustrated when something goes 'pop'.

The Hoyle's card games have also thrown a wobbly this morning, and won't work.
That's probably NOT down to Windows.....It seems the games have a hissy fit every so often.....Usually (I think)....When Norton does some sort of update.....Though not every time.

I can usually correct that by uninstalling.....then reinstalling. Though sometimes it won't do that properly for a few days.

Hey Ho  :(..... I'm sure it'll settle down at some stage.

Ah. X_X......That doesn't work.  ~X(
Put the disc into the tray, and there was a distinct lack of a prompt....Though the disc was whirring merrily away
I presume that's because all the apps appear to be awol. =)

Makes me feel lucky that I've not had any problems with upgrading to Windows 10 though I want to set up a dual boot now with Linux.

Techno

Like I've said elsewhere, Dave.

It seems that on some PCs it works (seems to work) as a really good upgrade......And on others, it causes oodles of problems, and leaves folk tearing their hair out.
I'm still avoiding it (For a second time) like the plague.

I had terrible problems after upgrading my Mac from Snow Leopard to Yosemite. As a consequence I was wary about upgrading to El Capitan, but eventually decided that it couldn't really make things worse. It's been a great improvement and my computer is behaving almost like new again.

Apart from the little problem that a programme I didn't know I had was causing (as mentioned elsewhere), 10 is fine on my 5 year old laptop.
