I have a fairly minor investment in 1/2400 ww1 naval and thinking of stepping way down to 1/6000. Back in the day I used the rules (modified from AH "Jutland" - which I played with friends several dozen times). Also used ALNAVCO rules and Fletcher Pratt. So still locked in the 1970's. Have seen discussions of GQ rules - are these now dominate for naval warfare?  Anyone actually doing 1/6000 WW1?

Naval Thunder is a great rule set, works well in 1:6000 too.

If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

I have played WW1 with General Quarters in the past but am trying out Victory at Sea - Age of Dreadnaughts solo at the moment, which seem to work well.

Not sure if I'd want to try something as big as Jutland with them or not. Still learning the rules so keeping things small at the moment.
There are 100 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data

The TableTop WW1 Micro Fleet would be good as well. For scale - 1/3000th fits well.

Not 1/6000 as said on t'other thread but I generally play GQIII and FAI, dabbling into GQ1 and GQ2 for Jutland has been an amusing dalliance but it's not tempting me back to the 70s.

I have some of the other rules mentioned and they don't do it for me I'm afraid, Naval gaming is both blessed and cursed by not having 10,000 rulesets

I find that I can work FAI back to cover most pre-dreadnought stuff without it being too much of a stretch, doing it properly would require a heap of up front work to procude suitable combat charts. I don't bother just backdating from FAI. There's been many a request for an official set from ODG but its been pretty firmly stated its not happening which leaves a bit of a hole - or an opportunity. I haven't yet found a set that flows well.

I have no interest in anything later than WWII and generally stick to 1941 and earlier even then

One somewhat innovative set of rules you might like to look at is Convoy by Mal Wright - more mini-campaign than tactical engagement but a solid fun representation of managing a convoy and escort duties.

Otherwise I do dabble a little in 1/600 coastal actions - it's like skirmish gaming for naval gamers.

Oh and age of sail and galleys but that's different again  :D

I was on another forum and I am sure someone mentioned they had done a computer moderated version of microflee. I think they said it was on a yahoo group
