Pendraken figure conversion

I have just sent my February order into Leon, and have requested a few BR143 figures - the BEF soldier surrendering.

My conversion intention is to reequip him with ear muffs, high visibility vest, and batons.  He can then re-join a post war battlefield as a helicopter marshal.   Has anyone tried conversions like this for diorama ?

For gaming, my son has a CWC adaption where helicopter marshals have a points value and any LZ where they operate, the choppers get a faster turnaround.  Even if the LZ is cold, no pilot wants to loiter on or near the ground too long close to a front line.

From  real ops, I can tell you that most chopper pilots prefer a trained marshal on the LZ.   Less  risk of troops running into a blade or in the case of hot exhaust fumes getting badly burnt (a real risk with big beasties like the Chinook).

There is also the condition of the LZ and "the drop" to wheels down.  A lot of AAC pilots who were accustomed to the old Wessex damaged landing gear when they were re-equipped with more modern but less sturdy choppers.  You really could literally bounce that old Wessex in with confidence and believe me they did.

The only conversion I've tried so far are my 1871 dismounted French dragoons. My next planned conversion is a Russian pandour into a dismounted Prussian hussar.

Yes, Phil was right (again!) the 7mm tube on the LAW looks right to the eye although the scale rule says it is too long.

I used a Pendraken WW1 American  in Brodie helmet  kneeling host figure.   He looks just right for  a Civil Defence volunteer drafted into the front line of a post war scenario.

Sorry Sunray - Wessi are RN and RAF only. Nosiey and puke making, particularly when chasing hares at Guterslo airfield. Mind you a QRA by the F Mk2A Lightings was louder.

Ian - you are absolutely correct.  It was RAF and RN only .  Both uniquely operated out of RAF Aldergrove with AAC hence my blurred memory of Eagle Ops over XMG.    The Navy boys always came home with foliage in the undercarriage and us boaking out of the doors...
