I thought they looked like two, long saggy nipples, to be honest.
I'm hoping they paint up better than they currently look.

Rimmer: "Well, we didn't use it all, Lister. Who did?"

surely a steampunk girl would haver some kind of firing mechanism tucked up her jumper, so to speak.

I did look to see if I could sculpt a gun in her hands, but that would have been a major undertaking so I didn't bother.

I tidied up the greenstuff last night with a sharp scalpel blade (cutting away excess on the base and creating demarcation definition between the tassels and the 'cup' on the breasts). The model's now primed and undercoated, and hopefully I'll start painting today. I've got to get it finished for Saturday, and then I'm picking up 40mm figures to look at using them as Dark Age skirmish gaming.

WIP Belt Fed Victorian Harlot & FIBUA Frostgrave board

Progress on the Belt Fed Miniatures: Dolly Mop (Victorian / Steampunk Harlot) has taken the form of this, so far - base sculpted, nipple tassel conversions, primed and undercoated, base colours applied, shading washes applied.

Foundation base colours 'blocked in'

Games Workshops Agrax Earthshade shading wash applied to the figure
Nuln Oil shading wash applied to the base.

Next task will be to layer on either the same base colour paints, or slightly contrasting, lighter tones of paint atop the raised parts of the sculpt. Leaving the shaded areas darker.

Might have to have a look at that left eye - it looks bigger than t'other.

We won't get into the old "should we paint eyes on figures?" debate.

Looking really, really good, Roy !  :-bd

Going back a few posts...You might find a suitable gun in Hasslefree's accessories range.
They certainly do modern & sci-fi 'rifles' for 30mm figures.....I think I've spotted a 'sprue' of handguns.  :-\

(30mm IS what these figures are, isn't it ?)

Or sculpt the handle of a derenger protruding from somewhere?

Having eyes of slightly different sizes is quite normal (or so I keep telling myself).

Cheers for the information on the guns  :)

I might, one day, give it a go. It would mean a little bit of work, where I'd have to cut a hand from where its attached to the body and then resculpt some detail, but its not outside of my abilities. This figure needs to be handed over to Col. Bills on Saturday [Deadline!  :'( ] and then I'm getting some of his 40mm to see what I can do to promote them.

Size-wise. Er, yes, they're definitely not 28mils. I don't know exactly what size they're labelled as, but they're taller than the average figure. So 30mm is a suitable label.

I really shouldn't keep altering the stock miniature with my own conversions, though  ;D

Re: Derringers. I did suggest a 28mm Pinkerton lady detective with a derringer -type pistol. The miniature possibly sculpted in a 'disguise' of fashionable female clothing as opposed to the long duster overcoats Pinketon models are normally depicted wearing. Having just the 'handle' showing from the cleavage is something I wonder if it would be possible. Or having the pistol held beneath a garter, with the miniature raising her skirts to retrieve it, that's another idea for thought ... I'll have to win the lottery and ask if I'm allowed to have some figures sculpted.

I've been watching The Pinkertons on freeview   :)

Stroll on, Roy.

Definitely NOT beyond your capabilities.

If you want to make a 'custom made' small hand gun, as a 'flat'.....(Assuming the other side is going to be hidden against the model)....Simply mix up a small quantity of green stuff.

Stick that on a piece of plasticard, or similar. Flatten it down on to a width of, perhaps, 1 mm.....Let it set......Draw your gun, to scale, with a fine marker......Add some more putty within the lines, on what is to be the shown side, to make it three dimensional.....Let that set..Thoroughly.

Cut it out with a sharp scalpel.
Peel or scrape it off the plasticard.....Job done.

That is a somewhat over simplified method, I'll admit, but it should work.

Yes, you missed the bit about slicing into your thumb.

Is it some sort of blood sacrifice to the Dark Lord and the djinn of the Green Putty?   :-\

I was cutting aluminium from a can of pop, to make a 'former' for one of the models, on Monday, Nobby.

If I'd slipped then...... X_X

You should be proud of me.

Thank you for the information Techno. I'll keep it saved on file for when needed.

Apart from the skin tones needing their second and third contrasting layers, and I might work on the blues of the feather and garter belts, maybe a highlight on the red of the nipple tassels' cups, that's the work about there, completed.

All ready for more work, come Saturday. Yay ... Groan! ;-)

All I've been doing is painting on diluted layers of paint, so I'll just let the photo's do the talking.
There is some spots of shiny, in places. Its the sun reflecting off a glossy bit of paint, which should vanish with a coat of varnish .
