Thanks guys. Not my table, but virtually all the Elves are mine, the undead split between 3 of our group.

More tomorrow, as I've just got back from part two of the battle followed by board games.

Wish I lived close to someone with a table (and figures) like that.
Be nice to have a game with some of the soldiers I make all day  ;)

Cheers - Phil (Not bitter and twisted, at all.  ;D ;D)

Aww  :'( Should we be arranging a grand day out for Techno?

Day Two of the big battle
The Elves mass for the assault on the summoning circle in the background - there still look to be rather a lot of undead in the way!

Over on the right, my co-commander is shooting

More fighting in the centre - the elves started to loose a lot of units around this time

Over on the left flank, my holding force has been smashed by the Vampire Knights, I had held them up for some time, and killed a lot of their lighter stuff, but now they were free on the flank, though distant from the rest of the elven forces. In the distance you may be able to make out the eagles about to enter the summoning circle, to attack the wizard - the objective of the battle.

The right flank - these Elves are finally if belatedly putting some pressure on the summoning circle

The eagles near the summoning circle where attacked by 2 necromancers who flamed them, killing one. The other managed to hop over the defending skeleton spearmen, and line up an attack on the summoner - but when he finally charged he failed to damage the summoner  :-[

A good game, and really great to be able to play a big game over an evening and the following morning. I've realised that I have too many Elves, as this wasn't all my troops on the table! There are more knights, eagles and horse archers that didn't get on the table...

Ultimately the Undead proved too strong - they are very hard to kill, and while they don't put out that much damage there are so many they start to take a toll through sheer weight of numbers.

Then in the afternoon we got to play some board games - the standout one being Evolution where you try to create species that can survive and grow, and sometimes eat other species. Very nicely produced game, simple idea, but with very good interactions between the mechanisms.

Looks like one of the mats sold by Simon Miller in his BigRedBat Shop. I think they are produced by Deep Cut Studio in Lithuania. Simon sells them both with and without grids marked on them , and in a variety of sizes.  I have five, and am very pleased with them.

Yep, Deep Cut Studio. The guys in our group have a few of them. The pattern really breaks up the 'solid green' that besets so many gaming tables. Even at this size the repeat in the pattern isn't apparent.

LoA Tyrconnel's Horse (Jacobite)

My first horse regiment from the LoA range - gone for dark red coats and white trim. Most of the base colours blocked in now. There is a lot of detail on these figures, they seem more complex to paint than the foot.

They are also surprisingly well armed, as well as the expected sword and pistols, they all also have a carbine, which I wasn't expecting.

Thanks chaps, but I think a lot of the praise should be going Clib's way, as I just need to let the brush follow the sculpting for all the white lining.
