Caesar 1/72 figures - an inspiration for 1/150 ?

I am a frequent visitor to Plastic Soldier Review website.   There is a rich nostalgia in viewing those little Airfix figures that introduced me to wargaming.

Occasionally one sees something that might inspire a 1/150 version.   In this case the Caesar H006 Partisans or Underground Resisters.

A couple of the sculpts caught my eye

1.  The chap in a suit (first row) with MP 40 - change that to a Tommy Gun and you have a gangster figure

2.Last Row - trench coat and pistol -  secret agent or again a gangster ?

3. a few of the other sculpts like the petrol bomber (Hungarian Uprising ?).

Have we enough interest amongst  forum members to commission a small range of generic partisans with a few who have gangster potential ?

Cheers

fred.

Me too - I often find myself looking through many packs that I owned a long time ago!

And looking at all the new packs, and wishing they had been available back then.

But I'm not keen on buying any - the soft plastic is just too hard to work with.

I would have thought that a lot of the SCW stuff could be used as is, with the odd simple conversions here and there.

I have found some figures from various Pendraken ranges, from SCW to sci-fi, to use as WW2 Soviet Partisans but specific figures would be very welcome. 1940's armed civilians could do for gangsters, volksturm, various partisans, VBCW and, no doubt, other things too.

Ok, I will place this as a formal request - a small range of say 6 resistance fighters with a few who have the dress, sculpt and weapons to double as gangsters or secret agent types.

Hello Sunray

I know what you mean about visiting the PSR site. I generally have a scan through the old sets like this one:-

As far as the partisans/resistance goes, we need to find out the plans for the Gangsters, although the news in August was:-

"8.   1920's/1930's Gangsters - Unfortunately an unlikely one to appear any time soon.  As people have said, it's not the most viable range to look at producing, so we'll have to wait and see."

Maybe if we can put in some ideas for multi-use figures, we can move it up the food chain a bit. Maybe if we also suggest some peripheral figures like generic civilians, unarmed, that might be attractive for railway modellers. I'd be happy to see some civilians with rifles but do we request UK, Soviet or German weapons for others?

This has enthused me now to get out 'Allo 'Allo rules I got from the Yahoo group and see what I need  :D.

Civilians with German weapons would do for Soviet and French partisans with captured weapons and for Volksturm.

Of course, ideally, I'd like to see figures with Sten/ MP40/ PPSh/ Tommy Gun and with Bren/ MG34/ DP LMG. Possibly same basic figure with different weapons for each nation, if that would make sculpting easier/ less expensive? Prefer LMG walking to prone but maybe that's just me?

In 10mm I'm tempted to say,"a rifle is a rifle is a rifle."

No - if H&R can make obvious No4's, SLR, AK47 etc in 6mm even Mr Lewis can manage in 10mm  ;)

Not a comment on the quality of sculpting, just an attempt to cut down on the figures needed!

Less obvious difference in 10mm between rifles than say MP40 and PPsh or Bren and MG34

Hi All

Maybe if the Gangsters were renamed to Armed Civilians it might expedite their emergence. Let's face it, a figure in this scale with a fedora, civilian suit and rifle could cover from the 1880s to the 1960s  :). Then LMGs and HMGs could follow later. A figure with a BAR or Thompson could also fit in a lot of different locations as well as the original gangster idea. Generic figures with molotovs or demolition gear would also work. Then WW2 German and Russian specifics could be added.

Cheers
