Right then; the way I did it...
(There are probably some better mathematical terms but technical English is not really my strongest point.)



First cut a complete, double 'gable roof' and fold it along the top ridge. Then cut off the corners at the angles you want (along A-C, B-C, E-F and the opposite of E-F)
Either glue this roof in position on the building or fold it in the angle you want. Now measure A-B and mark it on your roofing material; mark the middle  (D) and draw a line from that point perpendicular to A-B (line A-C).
Now measure A-C and/or B-C (they should be equal), let's say it's 5 centimeters. Use your ruler with the '0' on point A as a pivot and move the ruler upwards until the 5 centimeter mark  crosses the line C-D. Mark that point.
You can now cut a triangle A-B-C that should fit quite nicely. Repeat the process for the other side or simply cut two if the sides are equal.
Mind you, thickness of the material and whether you want the piece to fit 'in' or 'against' the roof means you might want to cut it slightly smaller or wider.

If the fit isn't quite perfect, remember that thatch, shingles, or tiles cover a multitude of sins. A fact for which I am most grateful.

To use the diagram's system of lettering I mark two mirrored parallelograms B-C-E-F joined along the ridge C-E. Glue that down to the building then measure D-C and mark out the side triangle with D as the centre point. Plus as FK says, the covering hides a lot of errors.
