Looking to start acw using the black powder rules. Anyone else play in Dorset.

I'm based up in Edinburgh, don't currently play ACW and don't like Black Powder so pretty useless as a potential opponent.

However, since it's your first post, welcome to a forum I've found to be knowledgeable, supportive and amusing ... if at times also completely bonkers!

I'm sure people with more useful things to say will be along shortly ... it tends to be that sort of forum.

I'm in Runcorn, don't play anyone's rules but my own but do play ACW, so I'm one up on Ithoriel.

I'm in Kent, have matching ACW armies in another, smaller scale but don't possess a copy of Black Powder so like Ithoriel am no real use as an opponent on all counts.  My main interest is the Mongols and their enemies.

However, before you wonder what the heck you have let yourself for, I'm sure there is someone here who fits your criteria.

I know two other forum members (unfortunately for them)     Sun Jester and Last Hussar both do ACW using BP.  They will probably be along shortly.  If not post a questiion in the Firelocks to Maxims section of the forum to get thier attention.

I am in Bucks and have just ordered both aides for ACW. I will be using Fire and fury but will also play with the two delinquents above. But it wil probably be sometime before the armies are painted.  (Just dont ask either of them about my WSS British that I bought to game against them both. )

You will soon understand the "in house" jokes and banter that goes on.

Hi, Dave. Welcome to the forum. Have had many enjoyable family holidays in Dorset and played many enjoyable games using Black Powder including ACW so have no reservations in recommending these rules. Would love to have a game but, like Ithoriel, live in Scotland. Have you tried these links -

Welcome to the forums. Whilst I am closer to you that most respondents so far (Wiltshire), I don't do ACW so can be of no help on that front. Hopefully someone will be along shortly who can.
