Pendraken rhino models -Good for East Africa WW1?

Hi

I need some wild animals for my WW1 East Africa games.  I see Pendraken makes a model of a rhino, but it is listed under fantasy.  Does this mean it is not meant as a realistic model? EG is it oversized or something?  Or is it a real world, correct scale accurate rhino that I could use some of in East Africa WW1??

Hi Noel.

First of all..A very warm welcome to the forum.

Regarding the rhino.....
As I've never seen a real rhino 'up close' I can't really answer your question accurately.

If I had to guess.....I'd say it was a little on the large side to go with 'historical' models...But don't take my word for that !

Hello and welcome  :-h

I'm going to have to say possibly not! It most closely resembles an Indian rhino in size, shape and having only one horn! However, if you're willing to give it a rhinoplasty and overlook the general difference in profile you might be okay ;)

Should be East African Black Rhino, a sub-species of the Southern Black rhino.  The black rhino is distinguished from the white by a pointed top lip.  So may have to get the files out.  BTW the name 'white' for the rhino is a corruption of the Afrikaans word meaning wide, as the top lip on this species is square, rather than pointed. :-B :-B ;) :D
