I think you are much the same as the rest of us.  :)

Remember the rules of wargaming-

1 A wargamer needs at least his own weight in unpainted lead to thrive.
2 When you paint your last unpainted figure you die!. ( I am going to live to at least 183)

On the Painting table- After completely clearing it up 10 days ago

Zvezda 20mm British Recon - Just assembled at 1am
Zvezda German Recon - awaiting assembley
Zvezda MG42 Awaiting assembley
3 PSC 20mm Shermans part painted
2 Armourfast Cromwells Haf assembles and tracks half painted
20mm Telgrapph pole assebled awaiting painting
Warmaster Steam tank - half painted
Half a dozen 10mm AVBCW vehicles and carts

Plus in my Den cupboard
40 odd base coated early war germans
4 big 10mm armies not started
200 20mm  WW2 figures and 20 part painted 20mm vehicles

Then I have the Garage loft where I store terrain and "Lomg Term Projects" - dont ask!!  suffice to say it has 18 feet of shelving all full. and box upon box of terrain and buildings, and more trees than Thetford Forest

Currently awaiting Rymans opening tomorrow morning for a bottle of Burnt Umber undercoat.

12 bases of warband type fellas 2mm
12 bases of regular infantry type fellas 2mm
3  bases of Roman Commands 3mm
3  bases of Celtic Commands 3mm
a pack of Coritani 15mm rendered walls
a large Coritani swamp and a pack of Baggage Train 6mm reeds.

That's it, the total sum of lead & resin left unpainted in the house :o Allowing paint drying time a good day will wipe that lot out ;)

I know exactly how you feel FSN....I can't claim to be well organised  :-[

Having inherited several DBMM armies that need a little work to make
them fit for the table I dug out a whole lot of 28mm medievals that I
got painted several years ago. hmmmm some (Well most actually)
require at least partial repaint and rebasing to be fit to join the one
true army (Charles the Bold's Burgundians).

Next project for me once 1914 stuff is done.

The "Her" was implied, I am fuly aware there are ladies in the hobby and on the forum.

I cope by hardly ever painting anything at all.

This can be done by focusing obsessively on the period 1850-1900 and getting endless use out of the armies I already have, including ones I painted up when I was a teenager, supplemented occasionally by troops I paint up specifically for a particular action I'm planning to fight, or by ordering ready-painted armies if there is a serious gap.

Not that I don't find painting figures satisfying - I do love it when a unit is finally based, varnished and ready for action - but time is limited and I'd rather spend it researching battles, writing scenarios and playing the games.

Alas, I do that too.

But it doesn't stop me buying new things :(

Which I'm then too busy researching the period, reading and evaluating rules and planning the next project to paint ... DOH!

Not sure if I should enter this conversation as I don't have a 'lead mountain', or even a mole hill.

On the painting desk I've got 36 10mm arab archers, 12 Arab Cavalry 10mm based for SAGA Crescent and Cross and 5 Dystopian Legions French Marines for IHMN.

On the corner of the desk is an old whiskey tin containing all the figures waiting to be painted, if I can't get any more figures in the tin I don't need to buy any more.  Every couple of months I empty the tin on to the desk gto see if there's something interesting in the bottom and if I can't remember what some figures are for I bin them.

I think this atitude started when I was unemployed then back at uni, about three years of being absoluely skint made me make sure I really needed figures before buying any and now it's just a habit I've got into.

But ...but.... You do need them, you always need them! You die if you have painted everything! It's like insulin for a diabetic!  :o :o :o ;)

I have been pretty disciplined for my painting projects. Currently I am painting all the FPW Corps for the Imperial era. This is for my Sappy Nappy rule set. I am only doing one project at a time.

For the French I have the VII and the XII Corps to do and for the Prussians the XI, VII and the VIII as well as the 3rd Cav XX. Just finished the HQ for the XI, VII and the VIII Corps. I do plan to get into the 3 Prussian corps that came up later (I, II and VI as well as some landwehr).  Also a couple of the republican period corps.

I didn't start these until I finished my 6mm Peninsular armies at 20:1. I have Massena's army (3 corps plus supply), Wellington's at the same period (less 3 or 4 independant Portugueses brigades, and a Spanish army of 5 divisions of infantry plus cavalry.

So waiting in the wings are 2400 scale WWII ships, 6mm ACW and maybe someday going back to finish the 15 mm ACW for Gettysburg.

No! I am strong, my will is strong and I am determined not to weaken.....

But don't get me started on how much I've spent on climbing gear over the years, last year I was finally convinced that I didn't need four tents and a camper van so now make do with three tents and a camper van.  :D

I have my vices but a lead mountain isn't one of them.  ;)
