Runelord said this:

Must say my only frustration with the game was the need to remember effects across phases such as casting Aspect of the Dragon during initiative phase 1, for it's fear effect of -1D6 in melee phase 5.  Or shooting with a " Powerful" weapon in phase 4 for-1D6 to  Protection roll in phase 6.
This does not spoil the game but is crying out for someone to create tokens for spells and effects.

So, what tokens would people find useful?

All of the abilities: Shieldwall, Hero, Resolute et c.

I appreciate that laser-cutting letters is difficult/time-consuming - having icons instead might work, but some of the abilities might be hard to render as images...

These are the ones I think you need

Direct Charge
Powerful Hit
Routed
Shieldwall
Failed motivation test

I think there are two types of things to mark, temporary abilities granted by magic and results of happenings earlier in the turn.

Temporary abilities include fear, fierce, flyers, forest walkers, hero, hill walkers, impetuous, parting shot, powerful, regenerate, resolute, skirmish, swift, water walkers, plus bonuses to all of the basic characteristics.

The only happenings I can think of offhand which need to be tracked are direct charges, other motivated moves and powerful hits.

If Leon hasn't the time, I can easily make markers for you.

Not on my watch. Very simple.

Great stuff I can hear the cogs turning from here, I was thinking along the lines of say " -1ML "  or "+1SH" , possibly also some spell tags where relevant such as the High Elf " Wisdom of the Ancestors" as this has a group effect a tag behind the mages base is preferable to multiple tokens.

Sounds like a plan, to me.....Though maybe Leon IS planning to do them anyway.
Otherwise, as I've said in another thread, one of us could make some tokens for Leon to cast up as 'flats'.
MDF ones would be more cost effective and 'saleable' though......I would imagine ?

I've experimented with some mythological looking status markers that might look good on a fantasy tabletop. Nothing more than generic, so no treading on toes. I like the idea of the triangle pointing 'forwards' for a positive status and 'backwards' for a negative.

I'll make these available to purchase on my site.

We can wait and see if Leon is planning his own before launching into discussing anything Warband specific.

I've only had a cursory glance at the Warband rulebook so if Leon's willing and you guys want markers ASAP and you can let me know exactly what you want written on the markers, I can go ahead and design specific ones for the rules.

I would recommend cutting the letter count to the minimum. 'Charge' instead of 'Direct Charge' if other charges have no need of a marker. 'Rout' instead of 'Rounted' or 'Routing'. 'Fail' instead of 'Failed Motivation Test' if there is no other kind of fail marker etc.

They look nice. For a suggestion maybe different shapes for different things?. Means you can see the state of troops from distance and wouldn't matter if they were upside down etc
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

We've got plans for more Warband tokens, just not enough time in the past few weeks to get them done.  Now that we've got a bit of a lull in the shows we can get them sorted out.

So to start with, the ones we've been asked about the most are:

"Charge"
"Powerful"
"Routed"
"Shieldwall"
"Fail"
"Hero"
"Resolute"

Normally I'd package these individually in bags of 5, but would people want larger mixed bags containing 4 or 5 of each type?

The design bit is easy enough, it's the time spent in the laser machine on the etching that takes a while with these things.  As WeeWars says, we'd reduce the letter count to keep things easy where possible.

I'll have a play about and see what we can do on that.  More shapes means more time in the machine again, but we should be able to change the shape/angle slightly to differentiate them.

Different shapes would be good.

I like the Wee Wars designers - though they are quite big, if the base is 40mm

Mixed packs would probably be useful - it's good to have a 1 click purchase. Powerful and charge are probably the ones you would want most of - perhaps 6 of these and 3 or 4 of each of the others.
