Remembering things

Orcs

As we get older or very old in Matrons case how do you remember things.

I use Mrs Orcs to help me remember

All of my bits and pieces - letters, figures, tools etc get placed in a certain place on the kitchen worktop.  Mrs Orcs hates this cluttering up the place, so if I have something I need to deal with or post I purposely leave it here as Mrs Orcs will remind by asking "Whats all this stuff here - can you put it away?" on a regular basis. 

I think she is a little suspicious that I do this as She has caught me getting stuff out of the Studyfiling  to put it there so that she will remind me.  ;)

What always worries me is when things aren't where they should be, and I have no idea how they got there.

There's a good Larson cartoon (well, they're all good) where the dog says to its pal,

I usually remember the interesting things quite easily. No art known to man helps me recall the dull stuff.

I don't make notes to remind me to do things....... for the simple reason I'd forget where I left the note itself.

My memory is pretty good for wargaming and history stuff, it's the mundane real life bits that I have the retention period of a butterfly for. This is a constant source of irritation to Ma Subs who thinks I am ignoring her when she is talking...not really, I have unintentionally zoned her out because something wargamey has just taken centre stage in my thoughts. I don't think I am alone in this either.
