Do your eyes work properly, first thing ?

Just as a matter of interest.....
Does anyone else have problems reading text on the PC, first thing in the morning ?
I certainly do !

I thought Nosher was talking about "GRADING" his table, this morning.
What ?....How do you do that ?...Is this a wargaming phrase I haven't heard before ?
A re-read showed he was saying about his figures "GRACING" the table this evening.

I do but its because I had varifocal lenses fitted to a pair of glasses which have too small a lense area to cope. Later I put my contacts in and use off the shelf reading glasses which work much better.

Yes and here's what my optician said:

As you age, your lenses lose elasticity.  If you maintain a particular focus for any length of time and then switch focal length you will notice this more.  I suppose when you wake your eyes have relaxed and therefor, when you force to do something close up (computer screen) they take a while to respond.

I only know this because I thought I was starting to go blind :-[

Yep. Definitely an age thing. I find I'm having to zoom in more to read posts at any time of the day. Although I have varifocals I still need to remove them when painting miniatures. This means I have to awkwardly bend my head down to see what I am doing, resulting in back ache and ultimately less incentive to paint.  :(  (and ironically, probably encouraging me to spend more time on wargaming blogs and forums on the computer which can't be great for my eyesight either!). My wife bought me a magnifying glass on a stand - didn't like it. I'm thinking, do I invest in an optivisor(?) or a pair of reading glasses?  :-\ On the long list of the million other things I should be doing .......
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

  I will have to remember this,and use it as an excuse for my crap painting. "I painted it just after i got up, honest gov,so me eye's wern't quite right".

No. At the moment my eyesight is okay, though I do require my spectacles to give the words and letters sharp edges.
Would it help if we all wrote BIG?

I have double vision for anywhere from 30 secs to about 4 minutes every time I wake up. Despite brain scans and eye tests the medics seem to have no idea why.
