Is it just me?

I was tidying the old painting desk yesterday an cleared some rubbish: empty pots, cocktail sticks, empty blister packs and the like ( not to mention all the painting bog roll) and it struck me how often I have to do this.

So, is wargaming / painting / modelling a messy hobby or is it just me? :-\

It's just you   :D

Just kidding - I'm always amazed by all the bits of plastic with paint on, cocktail sticks, old pots etc I seem to collect
Old enough to know better

It's a messy hobby.  Anybody who has visited our unit can attest to that...  :D

Messy, MESSY - never.   :o

Well, now I come to look around, well perhaps 'messy' isn't quite the right word, organised mayhem might be a better description at times (at least in my dreams it's organised).   :)

It's not such a case Of clearing the mess on the desk as trying to find the desk under the mound of stuff piled down the end of the extension...

So, yeah. Bit messy!

I have to be tidy as I have no dedicated painting space, and so have to store my stuff under the stairs. Mind you, if I did have a space it would be tidy as that's in my nature and how I operate at work.

How much rubbish do you generate?

I used to be messy when I had my painting table in the loft of the old place but since Narnia has been painted and carpeted I made a conscious decision to keep it tidy. The place gets hoovered and dusted once a week whether it needs it or not! I have a few bases of chaps undercoated and ready to go but that's it. Another pledge I made to myself was to keep only one project on the table at a time, so when I get bored with something it now gets filed in a box in the painting cupboard waiting for my interest to resurface. So while I am into 6mm FPW I have the remains of the French Battlepack awaiting some reinforcements, a bag of unpainted Prussians, eight buildings, three sticks of Prussians and the last four blocks of French undercoated and ready to go, and that's it.

I've had a tidy up as well
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

My desk is what can only be described as a total TIP.
The only (sort of) free space on it, is an A2 cutting mat...But at the moment that's only half clear.
I get through around a 'carrier bag's' worth of rubbish a week....Mostly acetone soaked sheets of kitchen towel, chewing gum, white metal dust and bits of unused, mixed putty.
I make an attempt at tidying it up about once a month...Which is a total waste of time, as it only takes 5 minutes to get back to normal.  X_X

Yup.
But I have to put away every night when I finish. Little one would tear the place apart...
I guess I do a bag every two months?

My painting desk has a unit of FPW French dragoons on the painting rods, some 3mm buildings being finished off and some dismounted figures to be converted into French dragoons in winter finery as the cavalry contingent of the Army of the North.

Steve, Phil; you're both slobs  :)

Lemmey; given the amount you paint it's amazing you create so little  ;)
