In the real world in 1812 at least 1 Corp of French Dragoons were on foot, and walking in their uniform boots is just about impossible.

I must admit that the really important thing is that you manage to paint the whole army for the game (doesn't matter the the level of painting)

I wholeheartedly agree. I would be more than happy to play with any and all of the work displayed on these pages by the esteemed forum members! In my opinion when gaming in our scale the spectacle is created by the armies and the entire setup, not by individual figures.

I am torn between feeling disappointed not to be in the race (no matter how far behind I'd be trailing) and relieved that I decided that keeping my focus on my 6mm Sumerians was more important than participating because, quite frankly, I think all of the entries so far are amazing!

So, thank you all for the inspiration, well done on all your efforts and while I will heartily congratulate the winners I think it fair to say that none of the entrants need be disappointed if they do not come first!

Now, I'm off to sit on my hands so I don't start yet another module for that damned city rather than painting units

There are some excellent army entries in particular as well, some great work on show.

One of the things that I enjoy about the painting competition is the variety of styles on show.

I find this of interest because a) I don't really like painting - it is a means to an end b) I have still to find my pre 1900 style. I prefer my WWII figures to be drab, almost anonymous, and my ACW are utilitarian rather than colourful.
