Hi.

Having a long time love for ww1 in the desert I have finally begun making SLOW progress on my ITLSU project. I have been buying stuff for this for a fair few months without actually painting og playing anything. I suppose thats what happens when you suddenly find yourself the father of 2. The more kids the less hobby time.

I started (my language skills fail me here) the daddy version of maternity leave, which made it possible to actually paint again (naptime for my son, paint time for dad).

I was inspired by the 2015 painting contest to get some work done.

My first entries are in the vehicle and open single base categories (entries below)

A Rolls Royce AC and my british inf. brigade command stand.

I plan on entering a british arty base, mounted and dismounted brit cavalry, a mkIV tank and a base of 1864 danish inf. too.

Part of what this p-log is for is keeping me focused.

For my ITLSU project i need to paint

Empire:
3 x inf battalions + MG
1 x mounted/dismounted cavalry + MG
2 x MkIV tanks
3 x 18pdr bases
2 x siege arty bases
assorted signals and spotters

Ottoman:
3 x inf. battalions + MG
1 x mounted cavalry
1 x battalion german Asienkorps
3 x arty bases
assorted command,spotter and signals

.....and whatever I don't manage to resist buying.....a lot more i suppose

It really doesnt look that bad when you write it down, but my oh my there are many bases  :P

Maybe I might even convince someone to play a game at some point. :-\

Very very nice :)

The rules are pretty straight forward and a lot of fun so I hope you get some games

Where did you find info on the markings for the Rolls Royce, my searches for markings for 11th or 12th LAMB in Palestine have come up empty :(

Thanks for the kind words  :-[

The rules really do look promising, if nothing else ill force the wife to play

The scheme is from tanks encyclopedia, for some reason i cant insert the link from my phone, but google "rolls royce armoured car palestine" as a image search. Its a few rows down, you cant miss it.

The caption for it says its one of Lawrences cars, but i liked the markings so I ran with it. Images of colours and markings for the desert are super hard to find. Im have a hard time even finding the correct colour for mkIV tanks  :P

I will second ITLSU. Managed finally how to put them on my new tablet so they are easier for me to read

Thanks for the entries, very nice looking figures!  Have you got any bigger images of them?

No idea about the rules but the figures are superb. Love touches like the flag draped on the table.

I do, but I cant link them any bigger from Imageshack  for some reason. Or maybe I just cant figure it out. I was wondering why my images were smaller than other contestants.

Thank you very much. I love those little touches, especially when you have so much elbow room with 10mm. Also it seems quite handy to identify important bases on a 6x4 desert table full of khaki troops  :-\

What colour did you use for uniform

Vallejo khaki - black wash - highlight with khaki/iraqi sand mix 50/50 - lightly wash with black again and drybrush pure iraqi sand.

Im experimenting with pith helmets in iraqi sand highlighted with bone - pics to follow tomorrow  :)

Fenton

Thanks its the same colour I use,j ust seems lighter on yours

I think its my phone camera. They are more khaki-ish in real life. Also the table is really shiny in the pics too.

I actually considered painting it RNAS grey for a while, but since i could find no evidence they were NOT sand, I chose that  :P Ive seen drawings depicting mkIV tanks in sand colour as well so it seemed plausible enough....not entirely sure about the validity of those either, but hey it looks cool. And if it turns out im totally off, a replacement is only 2.60.....god I love 10mm.  :D ....or an excuse for making an arab revolt army as well.

The Polly transfer is from an old FOW sheet of tank names, it fit so I stuck it on, on impulse. With all the pics of tanks with names and whatnot painted on it seemed appropriate.
Im having bloody hard time finding any pictorial evidence for colours or markings of vehicles from that theatre, so im making it up as I go along.
I think Pendraken sells some name transfer sheets for 10mm just like those I used.

Hmm, not sure on that one.  If you've got the originals still, you could send them to us here and we can upload them to our Photobucket account?  I can check them over as well and make sure they're the right size.

Rimmer: "Well, we didn't use it all, Lister. Who did?"

Lister: "Rimmer, aliens used our bog roll?"

Lovely work! :-bd

Thank you very much. I am overwhelmed by the support for my little project...might actually help me get something done.

And on that note, i painted the bases of a squadron of cavalry  (moimounted and dismounted), an 18pdr battery and a mnmkIV tank yesterday. So expect more pics late in the week  :D

Great little vignettes, Strangefellow. Let's hope Leon can come up with some shots that do them justice.
