I have offered to work up some different army pack compositions for leon for SCW

please vote on which packs you might like to see. 4 votes per person

it would be good to collaborate with anyone who might like to get involved in the process?

Please suggest other potential packs!!
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

Lord Kermit of Birkenhead

I suspect all are needed, perhaps a new poll with this list plus an "All of These" option ?

Hear what you're saying Ian. i'm just trying to get an initial 'flavour' of what might be the most popular.

I will no doubt cover all the lists once I get going 8)

What is the point of army packs generally?  I have never really understood their purpose.

Gets you 15 infantry packs for the price of just over 13  :)
Gives you a good basic mix of figures when starting a new period  :)
Encourages you to spend £20 rather than say £15 on ten packs  ;)

I see.  Thanks for that.  It has never occurred to me to do anything other than work what I needed, according to ratio of men to miniatures.

Nosher,

I've 'lived with' the SCW for 20 years and I wonder if all people new to the period will know which group fought for who.  You might consider identifying them as 'Nationalist' or 'Republican' when you get round to it.  The existing Inter War page, in my view, could also be equally confusing and a reorg into 'Nationalist' and 'Republican' under its own Spanish Civil War heading might be helpful, with the 'SCW Misc' put under Nationalist or Republican as appropriate.

Here are some comments.

Carlist Requete   -   OK
International Brigade   -   I have a problem with this one as the IBs only formed a small part of the Popular Army and were uniformed and equipped exactly the same.  They are, in other words, untypical.  I'd call this one Popular Army.
Militia Nationalist   -   Why not call them Falange.
Militia Republican   -    OK
Legion   -    OK   -  Don't forget that the Legion didn't wear steel helmets – not macho.
Moroccan      -   OK
Italian  -   OK

This would be the list of army packs and titles I do.

(Nat) Carlist Requete
(Nat) National Army (also use for Falange)   -   Any figures from the 'Regular Army' numbers; caps and helmets.
(Nat) Legion   -   Any figures wearing caps from the 'Regular Army' numbers.
(Nat) Moroccan
(Nat) Italians
(Rep) Popular Army (also use for IBs)   -   Republican Army if you prefer.  Any figures from the IB/Republican Infantry numbers
(Rep) Republican Militia

Hope this helps

Cheers |John - most helpful input.

When I first ventured into SCW I quickly realised how confusing the period was. I also agree, the way things are listed on the site isn't very intuitive. I will probably look at making suggestions on how the page might be re-modelled at the same time as working on the Army Lists.

Do you mind me sharing my progress with you so I dont make any schoolboy errors??

Not at all.  If you want to email me, Leon has my email address.

Just to jump in on the website layout, we're unfortunately limited in what we can do there.  The website won't support a further layer of products (ie you click on 'Inter-War', then click a 'SCW' button and then get the various options) and we also can't insert a new category into the list, so I can't add in a 'SCW' option in the lefthand menu.  We can only add categories to the bottom of the menu, so you'd end up with SCW right down at the bottom of the product list.

I understand.  That puts paid to me 'organising' you doesn't it :D
You could, nevertheless, de-clutter the Inter-War page without the need for another layer.  Could you not put all the SCW numbers under one Spanish Civil War heading at the first layer, as you've done with the ACW numbers under American Civil War, or the Germans and the British etc., for example, on the WW2 page?  Or even have two headings one SCW Nationalists and one SCW Republicans at the first layer, with all the relevant numbers under those two headings.  At the moment the page is very cluttered and the AVBCW and Inter War vehicles at the bottom almost seem to disappear under a mass of different SCW headings.
Just a thought and no more meddling!
