New Name for Dour Puritan

Can we find another way to shorten Dour Puritan than" DP" !!!.   For those most of us in the forum with minds that have not made the heady hieghts of the sewer , It reminds me of something that is a long way from being Puritan.   :d :d

Sorry I meant just a different way to shorten his name  - To perhaps just Dour or Puritan, its the use of his initials as DP that makes my sewer of a mind chuckle :)

You do realise, Mr so-called Leman, that I have begun writing the 2015 Pendraken Panto, and have now got to rewrite the first three scenes in which FSN meets a miserable roundhead? Not only that, but all the "ban Christmas" jokes will have to go?

And the songs will all need new lyrics.  :(

Yes, its a funny old one that. Now, I am only a humble old Second Lieutenant and (compared to you guys) a part-time wargamer (shockarooney - but it had to be said) .... but lets look at two other famous name changing incidents and their effects on military rank.

On the one hand, there is the example of T E Lawrence. He was a colonel when he first left the Army but when he later re-joined the Royal Armoured Corps under a new name (T E Shaw), he enlisted as a private. On that basis, one might argue that good ole DP aka now known as Leman should re-enlist as a Cadet (not me arguing that, DP Leman, crawl, crawl, .. sir ...).

On the other hand, take Arthur Wesley.  He changed his name to Wellesley and then later became known as Wellington. As he did not suffer any demotion in rank when he changed name, one could argue that good ole Leman should therefore retain his exalted rank with honour (especially when one considers the purchase system - no, not the 18/19th century officer commission purchase system - the Pendraken one, of course).

Which he has. And so, a precedent has been set  - which in Leman's case is quite ironic. Why? Well, bearing in mind Orcs' original reasons for seeking a new name, its ironic that the example of a Peer of the realm appears to have won the day! (boom, boom!)(who groaned?). So, what new names are we all going to have now ?
