1864 - Danish tv drama

Brill. I will probably record it as Ma Subs commandeers the TV on Sunday evenings. No probs, more time for wargamey things for me.

Knowing my luck with me not being much of a telly watcher, unless others put stuff like this on the forum, I would very probably have missed it.

I appear to have misheard someone, as it is Saturday 16th BBC 4 9pm for 1864, and Sunday 17th BBC 1 9pm for Jonathan Strange and Mr.Norrel, using magic as a weapon to defeat Napoleon, apparently. Sounds worth a watch.

The trailers for that have definitely piqued my interest.  ....Looks like my 'cup of tea'.

That Saxon Chronicles one sounds like it will be a good watch. Have enjoyed Vikings immensely and decided to google some of the characters in it. It appears that this adaptation is an amalgam of different episodes from the Viking period, put together to form a coherent story, so narrative history it is not, but a collection of historical stories, well, maybe, eg a Rollo did become first Duke of Normandy; a city was captured by Bjorn Ironside in Italy in the way that the capture of Paris by Ragnar is depicted. Still can't live with the soldiers of Wessex in burgonets though.
