We tried to like it but it just didn't grab us. Visually excellent though.

Leman

Thanks for that. I enjoyed the first series, Is Dr.Who still in it? If so he must have one busy work schedule.

Yaaay!
I liked the first series immensely. The characters were sometimes a little over the top and even the almost legendary accuracy of the musketeer's matchlocks and pistols was a bit much but even so, I can put history to the back of my mind and just enjoy it as piece of escapism. I do like the settings though, very atmospheric.

Unfortunately, M le Cardinal has passed. There will be no Whovian paradoxes in this series.

I trust we are about to see him replaced by Mazarin, who was (in my wholly biased opinion) a far more interesting character.

Why? Didn't he just invent an almond paste for cake covering?

No, no, that was Herbert, 3rd Earl Marchpane. Mazarin invented the Maserati*.

*My QI elves suggest this may not be entirely true  ;)

I think the Compte de Rochefort is going to be the big bad cheese in this series

I see the BBC has filled the slot of the excellent Musketeers with "Eurovision's Greatest Hits".

HAS THE WORLD GONE MAD?

Hasn't the second series finished?
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

"Eurovision's Greatest Hits" - a five minute programme, what do they fill the rest of the time with? :)

Yes. but I'd hoped for something in an equally swashbuckling vein.

It's like having a fine steak followed by school tapioca pudding.  >:(
