Hi Everyone

My push to h ave everything that is half done completed by Feb continues.

I am now onto the Moghuls.

I was thinking of doing the LI and LC in dirty white clothes. Would that be right or would they wear something coloured?

Thanks in advance

Simon

Yes and no.  ;D
They did have access to silks, and favoured brighter colours, but they were rarer than modern artificial dyes. Yellows and light browns are popular, with the odd red, blue or green for variety. Then others are in Andymac's Linen formula. Light Leather/Dun/Linen in those layers of highlights.
Lots of natural tones and furs. Browns, yellows, off whites.
If you look at the LC figures (and I only know this because I'm painting some at the moment) they are all wearing long sleeved tunics that are fur edged.
On my last batch I picked a rough palate colour and spread it across the unit.

Also, Buddhist prayer flags make a great inspiration for colours!

He wrote Moghuls rather than Mongols. ;)

16th or 17th century? Muslims or Hindu auxiliaries?

Costumes in the Akbarnama are mostly colourful:
Flight of Sultan Bahadur During Humayun's Campaign in Gujarat, 1535, from the Akbarnama
An Attempt to Assassinate Akbar at Delhi, 1564, from the Akbarnama
Akbar's triumphal entry into Surat, 1572, from the Akbarnama

For Hindus:
Hindu Indian Infantrymen from Armies of the Middle Ages, Volume 2 by Ian Heath based on 'Court of the Horses' at Srirangam, Tamil Nadu, India and Hindu Indian Cavalryman from Armies of the Middle Ages, Volume 2 by Ian Heath based on Bal Krishna Temple Complex, Hampi, 1513 may be useful.

For 17th Century Moghuls
