First battle of the campaign

This one was really intended to give the Egyptians a morale boost. The scenario has an Egyptian response to vague unrest in the Sudan. There were only some Fuzzy camelry and a handful of Bedouin raiders for them to fight.

Understandably anxious at the proximity of those big tribesmen, and aware that fellahin conscripts were not the last word in military prowess, the northerners went onto an entirely successful defensive, not losing one man, and annihilating the natives. Arabi has now decided to pacify the whole Sudan, repudiate the foreign debt, and declare war on France and Britain.
He may have a few surprises coming.

Second battle is due to be fought in an hour. The revolt is gathering momentum.

Good looking game FK. I like the look of the square taking on a mad dash by the enemy, but supported by some form of machine gun;  nice.

The second battle has been fought out. This time the Ansar were out in force and the Egyptians had some trouble. Square still served them well, but their horse got carved up, the general was captured, and morale cracked. Egyptian concerns have moved north, where a British fleet is deciding where to make its landing.
I hope the player I have playing the Egyptians hasn't googled Hicks Pasha and found out what sort of rabble he'll be leading for the next Sudanese foray! Especially since the Fuzzy-Wuzzies will have joined the revolt by then.
