Hello!
I'm currently working on a playable diorama of a medieval joust.
The very simple rules are written and I currently test them.
As the figurines manufacturer that I was planning to order my knights does not seems to accept orders anymore :'( , I started to search in Pendraken catalog for some knights with lance and dynamic poses.
I also need a lot of medieval civilians to be used as the crowd. Here, the problem is to find a reference and in enough varied poses to preserve the diorama's esthetic.
So all advices, helps and photos are welcome !

thx
jim

As that was your first post, Jim....A very warm welcome to the forum. :-h
Not an expert in the range, but I'm pretty sure there are some 'knights' in the medieval section that ought to be suitable.
Recommendations guys ?
Cheers - Phil.

Thanks !  :-[

Of course, I've found the ELM1 but the horse is barded and I would prefer a caparison.

Here is the ideal choice for me but it's from another (almost dead) manufacturer.

(I apologize if it's forbidden to post mini's from other creator)

Hi Jim,

welcome to the forum.

I'd suggest this figure for the jousters:

EMM1 / Period: Medieval / Range: European Mid Medieval
Mounted men at arms, lance, surcoats on horse

For peasant onlookers there are armed peasants, and a pack of monks, in the mid-Medieval and Dark Age ranges who might be convertable. The Beggar Army in the Fantasy section would be usable too, though the figures are slightly different in size, iirc. The Mongol Camp Followers (MON12) might do at a pinch.

Guards could come from any of the mid-Medieval range foot with pole weapons.

Noble onlookers would be more of a problem, can't think of any lords & ladies type figures. Others might have suggestions on that front?

I would sugest ELM 36, XIV century knights, they are the riding pose more dinamic of the charging knight (just my opinion)

second pose of the same reference

There are probably more out there, but as I am doing this at work I had better head back as the coffee break is now over :)

Sometimes I wonder - why is that frisbee geting bigger - and then it hits me!

Thanks a lot for all those great ideas and ref.
I'll probably choose the ELM36 for the knights (the easy part of my 'problem'  :D)

Now, for my crowd, adding some monks makes me think of a new rule point that I want to add to my game. So, it's a nice addition but not the solution  :'(

I am facing the problem that few models only of many packs match my need... It's gonna  be a 'buy-10-and-throw-away-8' job !  ;D

I'm always attentive for some advices concerning my  crowd and I'm adding a little new problem : any idea for a damoiselle ? We have to do not forget that she is the supreme motivation for our knights to fight each other ! any suggestion ?  ~X(

Speak to Leon he can help out with instance like this.
There are the helpless maidens.... not much good for a joust, but good for rescuing...well damsels in distress :)
there is a lady in the beggar set who with a bit of filing and green stuff might work. I typed pendraken beggars into Google and it was my third hit on images... again work limits so I cant link

Picture of some of the beggars. Lady on the left with the broom might do with the broom removed or turned into something more appropriate and a pointy hat added from green stuff or similar.

Welcome to the forum :-h

The level of customer service from Pendraken is much higher than you are likely to have experienced.  As has already been hinted at Leon and co will often be able to do part packs etc so tell them what you need and you are likely to be pleasantly surprised  ;)

hope it helps

In the SYW range there are some ladies - big dresses - may need a bit of work to make them medieval but probably good for princesses?
