Had to dry brush the tops of the Uhlan's czapka covers as the wash had ponded there on most of the figures and it was too dark

Cleaned up flash on the dismounted Hussars, will do mounted Hussars tonight

Finished painting the bases I've been preping before leaving for work this morning. I now have enough bases ready for the current batch of Germans and the next batch :)

I must say spending 15-20 minutes each morning, before I leave for work, working on figures is very therapeutic.   :)

Following it up by reading this forum on the train into town sets me up very well for the work day ahead  :) ;D

I had a mate in South Africa who was the catering manager of a large hotel. He actually painted figures in his little office during the day between jobs - said it was the only thing that kept him sane.

Cleaned up the limited flash on the mounted Hussars last night, the fifth leg on the horse pose with all four hooves close together is 'interesting' to remove ;)

Washed all of the next batch so they are ready to mount on my painting rods as soon as the current batched moves out of the way :)

Organised bases for current batch this morning so will be ready to start basing straight away tonight :)

Need to reprint labels for German guns as the allignment was out, not sure if they should be 77mm or 7.7cm, will do some checking, suggestions welcome :-\

Nobody stuck in SA should be labelled "lucky". Even Wales would be better.

Judging by the number of South Africans here you may well be right  :(

Over 1,000 views  :o :o :o :o :o

And still no proper pictures  :-[ :-[ :-[

This continual cold showery weather is starting to wear rather thin  >:(

There might be a window of opportunity on Saturday :-SS but undercoating the next batch will take priority over varnishing and is not quite as weather critical ...

OK, Will......Weather update !
It's SO bright over here in SW Wales this morning.......I just know I'm going to get a splitting headache from squinting....Gonna have to draw the bloomin' curtains soon.
Been outside, upstairs, in the pole-barn's 'workshop' to do a tiny bit of soldering.....Had to tell the dogs to "Get out, quick....You'll all get heatstroke !"
Phew....Whatascorcha ! (Makes a change, though !) ;)

Paul....Get on with it !!  ;D ;)
And the folk that lived here before Mrs Techno and myself moved to SA.....To what basically sounds like a luxury prison compound, that they call home.....They want to move back here...Says it all really. :o

Cheers - Phil

I think the German designations are usually in cm, i.e. 7,7 cm FK 16.

Thanks Phil & Ian, I think  :-/

Thanks Olden, the artillery bases are now labelled with 7.7cm (I didn't want to confuse people with the German decimal comma) :)

Current batch has moved off my painting rods and Hussars have taken up residence, impatiently awaiting undercoat :-w

Unfortunately no actual basing took place last night due to running around after my wife who has come down with a bad cold :(
But at least all the figures are assigned to bases  :)

Will hopefully assemble the 4 remaining 7,7 cm FK 96 n.A. (its a 1914 army) and actually get to do some basing tonight, "nursing" duties permitting  ;)

Some actual basing was completed last night between two rounds of gluing 7,7 cm FK 96 n.A. (shields then wheels) and some nursing duties :)

I managed to get about half the current batch based but when I started to take them out of the flock this morning I found they had not dried  :o

It had been too cold over night for the filler to dry properly so I quickly put back the flock and have moved them into a warmer part of the house to dry.
Hopefully the replaced flock will attach properly :-S If not they will need a coat of PVA and some more flock

More running around after the unwell wife this morning and getting some more undercoat from the local stationary stationery/model shop while patiently waiting for the best weather window of the day  :-w
Reached a high of 9 =)

Used newspaper to create a temporary 'spray booth' in the laundry which was warmer than 9 and now remember why I spray outside:
- ventilation  :-&
- quicker and easier, don't need to shuffle around things covered in wet paint >:(

But the next batch of Germans is undercoated and will hopefully be dry enough to paint tomorrow  :)
(Note to self, move them to warmer part of house when not quite so smelly)

Continuing our late war Eastern Front game tonight  :) and off to base the rest of the current batch of Germans before dinner :)
