Not sure whether you'd class this as spam or not, if it is, Mods please delete.

There's this Kickstarter for some 10mm Landsknecht Zweihanders, which at the time of posting, is nearly at it's goal:

The figures look very nice, I'll be getting some to go with my Dogs of War army, which currently is 100% Pendraken figures  :)

I saw this, looks ok but they are very close to games workshop empire figures...IP case in 3,2,1..?

Do they copy the poses of the GW figures? If so they might be in trouble, otherwise they are just Landsknechts in my view.

So no one can ever, for the rest of the existence of the human race, make 10mm figures of historical soldiers because a company who once made something similar in a fantasy range but no longer makes their 10mm figure range used to make them? Don't see how this new guy is hurting the Evil Empire's sales at all, as they don't sell anything of this sort any more.  :-\

Remind me who has got IP on the wheel?  :D

If the EE start making Roman/ACW/WW2 figures, is it "game over" for every other manufacturer?

Didn't Nasmith do some of the early GW Empire sculpts anyway?

Not my thang, but good luck!

They look good, I'm in for a few packs (and maybe some more if the stretch goals get hit).

Don't see there can be an IP issue, as they are historical figures - just because GW empire draws heavily on Landskchencts this doesn't make it GW's IP.

Cor, they're very nice! Shame the strips are two deep not two wide, but that's the only downside. I do need a few dopplesoldners and the variety there is ace...

Looks good but, as always seems to be the case with kickstarters, it's US based and the postage pushes it from "interesting" to "I can get something else that will do, much cheaper." Pity.

I think the idea with the 2 deep strips is to allow 4 strips to be put on a WM base, like crossbows or bow armed figures. They are supposed to be cast in a way that allows them to be cut apart easily.

Postage - they are trying to keep it as low as possible - and combine orders were possible. But yes it really adds up - and then if you get clobbered by RM for handling fee + VAT!!

I initially thought something along those lines but then I thought, "I only want a couple of units, it won't break the bank - I'll go for it."

I just hate kickstarter. Even with 10 mm finding its way i still hate it.

"Oh these look good , i want to buy some of these fo.... oh wait they are not available untill next year" Never mind.

What happened to selling stuff that already exists?

No, that's not what I'm saying, I'm not sure how you got that from my post. Landsknechts are a historical subject at which anyone can have a go. There is a potential grey area, though it is very grey, if the sculpts were very close in style and pose to the original warmaster Empire figures, but they'd have to be very close. I'm talking about similarities between the figures as objects in themselves not subject they depict. I don't know whether anyone has ever tried it with historicals (its much easier to do with fantasy figures), I imagine not.
Whether the GW figures in question are for still sale or not would prevent them having a complaint, though it would render pursuing it hardly worthwhile.
These figures more than likely don't cause any controversy.

Given that Bob Naismith sculpted the original GW space marines its not surprising his work looks a bit 'Games Workshoppy'.  In fact its more true to say that GW figures look a bit Naismithy'!   :D
