I was wondering what basing system people who play Blitzkrieg Commander use with Pandrakens stuff.

I finaly got round to looking through the BKCII(got it when it first came out im slow) and it mentions nothing about basing.  So i guess it assumes you know about this from other games.

Ive only really please 20mm Arc of Fire with my mate, i did base up some men on bases when i was trialing them but i cant seem to find them at the moment. I think i put 6 on a 50x25 base for infantry.

But lets pretend i dont know anything (and you wouldnt be too far of the mark).

So what size bases do you use for the different types of unit in BCKII and how many models do you put on it.

Thanks alot for your help.
I think getting 2 armies for this ready will be my xmas project (if i get my dungeon done :) )

Cheers
Brian.

I use a variation of the CWC system with my own oddities - in each case, troops facing first dimension listed

Infantry, mg, mortor 40x30 - 4 infantry, 1 mg or mortar with crew.
Scouts, recce (armoured car and infantry) 30x40  - 3 on foot or motorcycle, 1 a/c
AFV 30x50 - 1
Guns on table 40x40 1 with crew
trucks, wagon 25x50 (I have some 25x40 I will use when I get to my komsomlets tractors, they are very small) - 1
FAO  40mm round - small diorama
HQ 40mm hexagon - small diorama
CO 50mm square. - small diorama

If I was starting from scratch, I'd put the mg and mortar on 30mm square.

Steve J

4 x infantry on a 50mm x 25mm base to represent a standard section/platoon.

2 x riflemen, 1 x officer and 1 x bren gunner on a 50mm x 25mm base to represent a section/platoon with PIAT/Panzerfaust upgrade.

1 x riflemen, 1 x sten gun and 1 x bren gunner on a 25mm x 25mm base to represent a dismounted carrier section/platoon. They can also be used as Recce units.

MG or 3"/80mm mortar on a 25mmx25mm base.

That's as far as I've got. All vehicles to remain as they are, unless put on a command base, probably a CO. Arty, A/T etc yet to be decided upon.

Ah ive finaly found the post on SMPs website

50x25mm for infantry, and mortars and MGs
30x50mm for tanks and larger vehicles
20x40mm for smaller vehicles (or put 2 on a large base)
40x40mm for guns
40x40mm for HQs, FAO
50x50mm for COs

is what i was advised about 12 months ago, looks like this ties in with Steve J's idea.

So 4 is the number on infantry then you alter it depending on upgrades.  Ive not really read much into the rules as yet, but im sure it will make sence.

Im still wanting to know other peoples solutions so please post them up.

Thanks. :)
Brian.

Two different ones.

(a) Ostfront, done around the time BKC I came out and tobe consistent with other things was 3cm square bases with 4-5 infantry per base.   Most AFV on a 30mm frontage, depth to fit  Command on various square bases.

(b) Desert, currently under construction: infantry 4 to a 4x2cm base, heavy weapons 1 and crew to a 4x2cm base. Guns etc generally 3cm frontage but some 4cm.  Most vehicles 3cm frontage (though a few are 2 or 2.5cm especially transport).  HQs and FAOs on circular bases - vehicles/AFVs on 4cm, infantry generally smaller.

I just use Flames of war bases from litko (3mm thick).

I base most stuff inf and AVF on the med size. wide for inf and short front for AVF.

I use the large for things like 88's and HQ base.

Small I'll use for mg teams and spotters.
