I've more or less filled my available storage.

Remember those puzzles with 15 sliding blocks and one gap.
I've reached that stage.

There's certainly scope to take out every box and pack things more efficiently.
There isn't room for another big venture into new armies for a new rule system.

I'm aware I could have a clear out and reduce my holdings - insanity!!!

The Winter focus will be on finishing off the loose edges.
That last irregular cavalry unit, the allied unit and the little beer and pretzel packages that I set aside.

Mighty impressed with these annual figure painting tallies. Not really achieved anything this year - but then it's 15mm Napoleonics. Like the finished product don't like the process. So much so that I really can't be bothered. Just started an Austrian artillery battery, initially thought should be no problem doing all 3 at the same time. That thought didn't last long.

But ECW figures - completely different kettle of fish. They arrive, and are usually painted within a week. I look forward to painting them, I enjoy the whole process. Naps not so. Austrians have waited about 8 years to be painted, I'm sure they can wait a little longer. In fairness I bought them for my retirement, which is still a fair way off. I bought Austrians, Prussians and Russians as I guessed (correctly) that the ranges would go OOP, so thought it prudent to buy everything I could possibly want (mostly Naismith, as they matched my French and British armies).

ECW armies are sadly complete; I have harboured thoughts about representing my dragoons mounted too (a little excessive), and possibly an Army Newly Modelled (which would just require about 20 regiments of foot) but then there's no more room at the inn.

I moved from  9l to 4l RUB boxes. That way I get 25% extra storage in the shelving.

This can be surprisingly effective, both at the contents per box level, but also the boxes per shelf level (as fsn shows).

And I agree with Radar - the type of figures matters a lot. I made decent progress with American AWI figures at the start of the year, but stalled on the redcoats. But since late summer have been making great progress with Armoured Clash figures - which whilst VSF, I've gone with the Enlightened whose uniforms are more modern monocolour overalls which come out very nicely with contrast paints and a bit of detailing.

Between bouts of gout, bouts of ennui, the general churn of household chores and my own total inability to focus on one thing for more than nanoseconds I have not completely painted anything this year. Though many things have an undercoat and a first colour applied.

However, despite my painting area at present being the kitchen table and the kitchen temperature yesterday morning being 1.4 degrees higher than the interior of my fridge, I have five figures, four pieces of terrain and two bought-painted-but-now-rebased Infinity droids that only need their base edges painted black and then to be varnished.

It is possible, only possible mind you, that this may not be the first year in decades where I got absolutely nothing completely painted.

We'll see. ;D ;D ;D

It's good to have a target?

I'm very lucky that I have plenty time to hobby, and I do find that my project management gives me both impetus and inspiration.

Hope your dry spell becomes moist soon.

Errrrrrrrrrr? Say whut?

I'm guessing you need to click one more time to get to the image. That looks like a link to something. Easily done, to be fair.

To be fair I'm seeing a picture of Jake Paul cowering from Anthony Joshua with a young woman replacing Joshua (Vast improvement) asking 'How much did that cost you?' and Paul now holding a Warhammer 40K product. (No clicks required).

Gentlemen, I am going to fail.

Because Christmas is a long period of not being at work (my company shuts down between Christmas and new year) I have taken to giving myself projects to while away the long festive hours.

Last year I had the Napoleonic league play off, and this year I tasked myself with painting the Anglo-Portuguese 1810 army.  This is 980 infantry, 90 cavalry and 4 batteries in 13 days. Looking back, I had painted the 29th Foot in March, so that brings it down to 920 intantry. :)   17 infantry battalions, 3 cavalry regiments.

To date, since the 18th December, I have painted the 3 cavalry regiments, and 10 battalions. 90 cavalry, 576 infantry and 17 staff. With two days to go, I have 4 Portuguese and 2 British battalions and the artillery to complete.

May the Dark Lord bless the Portuguese! Their very simple uniforms are a speedy joy to paint. I think I can get the 4 battalions of Portuguese done by midnight tomorrow, but that leaves two British battalions and the artillery.

They are painted, and based, but the bases need static grass applied.

So here's what I did over Christmas. Portuguese 8 line and 2 Cacadore battalions; British 6 line and 5/60th. One heavy, one light and one Portuguese cavalry regiment. 920 infantry, 90 cavalry, 25 officers. Total 1035 figures painted in 14 days.

No artillery yet. No staff/ADC yet.  :(

Aside from that I need to finish off the basing. :( :(

No the quality hasn't diminished. It didn't have very far to drop. It was just about 12 hours per day painting, but I was in the zone, had a system and it was a great pleasure.

I think in terms of success as defined by Pedraken it's an ALMOST!

Thank you. I didn't do an awful lot that I had planned. I have a PEM Mk2 half created and Brenda is complete but needs writing up. :)

Having said that, I do feel a certain sense of achievement with what I've done.

So a guy at work really likes painting. He usually games WH. However I have given him a couple dozen ECW 10mm, as he wanted to try.

They will be very noticeable on the table, as they will stand out as the best dressed men on the field
