...I meant : Then you send these casts to Leon to make a mould...

Leon

Normally, we take a load of individual sculpts, and put them into a master mould.  So each master mould will contain 30+ different figures.  We then spin this mould repeatedly to create master castings.  Once we have enough of these, we use them to make a production mould.

We could do this for you, but it means you'd be paying out for several moulds?

With ya... Or I just say "Leon 12 Daleks" and you has to make it 12 times  ;D (I did this once with some winged monsters, Leon wasn't happy)

The darleks are the only one, so I think we will just make a few of them for the mould.

It's just that we only have 30ish models per mould.

The rest, as its going to be a skirmish game (all on individual small round bases) I didn't want a load of repeat models.

For example, the Cyberman are probely going to be in units of 7. As I have a leader model and four others  it means that you ain't going to have a load of obvious duplicates.

The Vogons are going to have two different squads, units of 10 with three different models each (so you end up with 2x3 and 1x4)

I'm also doing Ogrons, these are just an Mercenary unit so two will do.

Lucky for us U.N.I.T (Falkland British) and Humans (Sci Fi) are sorted already by Pendraken
Future human pic: http://stagevu.com/img/thumbnail/ltzsojbkphcdbig.jpg

So Dim Reaper has to do (I'm guessing at the Variants)
Dalek x3
Special Wep Dalek x1
Dalek troops x0 (will also use pendraken sci fi humans)
Sontarens x3
Sontaren Genral x1
Gallifrey High Councillor x1
Gallifrey guard x3
Time lord warrior x3

Once we have the above made we will then do a Charictor mould,
All 8 classic Doctors
The master
Davros
A TARDIS  (perfect objective marker)
Raston warrior robot
And possibly a few more races (Autons, Draconions, Zygons, Ice warriors, Silurians etc)

Well Lud ..?

Luddite had a look at one of my cybermen in the flesh. So what did you think? You know I think it's amazing. However with that attitude ill neaver inprove so, what did you reckon? Put it this way, if thos models were on the Pendraken shelves, would you use thos models yourself?

I've got to say they're lovely little sculpts old chap.

The cybermen are somewhat iconic to say the least (well the classic series ones are) and you've captured that iconography pretty damned well.

I know they're not finished yet so the only comment I'd make is that the 'metal' parts (helm, and beastplate-pauldron arrangement) needs to be a bit 'crisper' with sharper edges.  I know the source material has these area rounded off, but as a modelling conceit i think they'd look better being a bit sharper.  But other than that, very good sir.

'I'd buy that for a dollar'... ;D  ...and i'm certainly looking forwards to seeing them painted up.  Silver with a black ink wash should do it!

On a side note; it's enough to inspire a chap to have a go himself... :D

Thanks man!

I could try cornering them a tad (not 90• but possibly 45 and a 45 hexagonal top) see what it looks like.

I've done some Vogans also, there looking good also, I'll post some of them later.

Painting wise, yeah, spray black, heavy drybrush metal, ink, chill 8)

I really want to paint them... But if I do I don't think Leon can mould them up.

Vulpine is sculpting them for his own personal use, so we're just going to mould them up for him to save him having to sculpt hundreds!  That aspect will be dealt with by our contract casting side (separate business), so it won't be anything to do with Pendraken.  Commercially speaking, everything 'Doctor Who' is copyrighted, so it's not something anyone would be advised to get into.

Yeah, things are fine as long as it's for personal use, it's just when your selling it and/or trying to pass it off as the real thing where the problems start. However, if you gave them "not" names such as "exterminatorcons" for daleks or "Deletabots" for cybermen, you could sell them as "Not" versions.
I come across this a lot with my art commissions, people tend to want me to do them a painting or item that is star wars or another tie-in. I'm Ok to do the job for them as long as its not for commercial use, just private.

Loving your progress so far, Can't wait for your "Exterminatorcons" though! It's a shame your not doing them in 15mm, I do really want some of them in 15mm......!! ;)

Paint it Pink

For Xmas I would like some 10mm not-Daleks and not-Cybermen please. I've been a good girl all year and Santa would get milk and cookies, or equivalent in exchange.  :-*
Unlike some people, I feel under no obligation to pretend that only one war-gaming scale is true, and that any others 6mm/10mm/15mm/25mm are mistaken; or that I know better than people themselves what is right for them to use. The point is precisely for all war-gamers to decide for themselves.

It's Leon who decides on 10mm Robotmen and Peperpot robots, giving Leon the milk and cookies might be a better plan (although the evidence of this thread would need removing).

And you know for certain, that there's no-one who works for Auntie already on the Forum ?
There'll be certain other companies that watch Pendraken, who are here already.

Well, that dose not mean anything really. It's 'my' work inspired by Dr Who. I'm not saying "buy these cybermen" or "dr who models here!"

Just like Barbarians chaos. There very GW chaos warrior looking, but they ain't duplicates and they are his own work.

No V....You're quite correct.
But if they were offered for offered for sale..there could well be a problem if anyone relevant got wind of it.
It wouldn't matter in the slightest if they were called something else, if the Beeb took exception to them.

All they'd need to do is threaten action, knowing that they could afford to do this....A small company wouldn't be able to take them on....EVEN if the little company was in the right and the models were 'different' enough.
Doesn't matter who's right and who's wrong....It's which company has the most money to throw at something. ;)

Cheers - Phil.

Your right Tecno, I was talking to my solicitor mate last night and he was saying the same, it ain't right or wrong it's who's bigger and more powerful.

If anyone from the beeb has seen this, only the top dogs would be bothered, most the employees Hate there employer and so won't give a monkeys hat.

It's up to Leon if he want to put them online to order and if they are offended he can take them off.

I don't give a gibbons handbag as long as I get my cyber/Vogan/Dalek army!

Although having produced models for sale would be cool!
