Yes, folks, it is I - not Le Clerc (raising spectacles) but I, Mollinary ( raising spectacles).  I have just pronounced my latest project a success. What is to, you ask?  Well, I 'll tell you. It is the production of completely blank bases.  Yes, COMPLETELY blank.  One almost feels they should come in a brown paper wrapper.   Since megalomania took hold, I have collected large armies for the hyphenated wars.  Although the vast majority of the painting is outsourced to the brilliant Sri Lankans who work for Fernando, I reserve the basing for myself. And I produce movement bases, of card and magnetic tape, to help move the vast legions.  But what, the inquiring of you ask, do you do when casualties are caused and the movement bases are exposed. Well, until today, the answer would have been "if you don't like the look, you can always take the bases off  and move them individually if you really want!".  Silence usually follows, and knowing looks are exchanged as the photographer approaches.  Well no more.  I have discovered the production line technique for making blanks to replace figure bases removed from the movement bases.  Humbrol's Sea Grey is the secret, in spray form, which allows my simply PVA d and sanded metal bases to leap to fully prepared and under coated blanks in their hundreds, in seconds.  Once dry, drybrushing withVallejo stone grey is a doddle, and then the sticking of flock to match the terrain is again very quick. They match my figure bases perfectly, and will shortly be home to my casualty markers as well.   How sad is that? I am spending my time, valuable time, producing beautiful bases - with nothing on them.   I'll get my coat.

If anyone asks you could say there terrain pieces representing the area around Dixmude
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

So, the story rapidly comes to a close.  Only a day after beginning the process, I have 100 25mmx20mm, completed, naked, bases.  And done in off time, watching TV, cooking, reading.   And so, with luck, this sad phase comes to an end - but when will it return?  The dark shadow hovers, awaiting its moment, to .....................?

So where are the photos? As someone once remarked, Mollinary, if there are no photos it never happened.  ;)
