Queens, too:

Tried a different technique where I started with a bright green and drybrushed up in darker colors to try and give these bad boys an 'interior glow' kind of look.  I don't think it worked very well.  These sculpts are a little too detailed, and the proportions so alien that they look like green blobs on the table.  I recommend anyone looking to paint these up would do well to paint the bodies in one color and the limbs in a contrasting color - that would help sell them as strange bipeds.

And here's a scale comparison of painted aliens with a painted marine.

I can see what you were trying to achieve Warren....But you're right...Don't think it quite worked.
A thin black wash might just work perhaps ?....If you don't mind repainting the bases.....It's bound to flow to the bases if you do a wash.
Just a thought.

They look OK to me, but I can see what you mean.  It could be the way that kind of affect tricks the eye more than the colour scheme though, and throws them off a bit?  As Phil, just said, a basic wash can look great on these, there were some purple ones knocking about somewhere I think.

That's not a bad idea.  I'll try a test wash on one figure and see how it works out.  (Probably should have tested the dark on bright technique on a single figure first - not like they're so expensive I can't afford to lose one if it doesn't work out.)

So...I took Leon's advice, and this looks way better to me:

The Black Wash - was that the 42nd Space Marines?

I agree, the wash certainly helped. They look good!  :)

Ever wonder what those "Minotaurs with heavy weapons" look like?  Wonder no more:

For scale, that's a human marine in between the big guys.

They painted up very well.

I'm not entirely sure why some of the sci-fi lizardmen with laser weapons are wearing pants and some are not, but they all look pretty cool regardless.  I tried painting their guns dark red for contrast, but the guns just faded into the background of my terrain boards, so I brightened them up with silver, then took out the flash with a coat of Devlan Mud.

And one shot just for scale:

These are excellent!

Leon you SERIOUSLY have to get the photos of your stuff done and on the web.  What other little gems like these are languishing in your catalogue?!?

What's this then?  I might have to pick up a pack just for giggles.  What's the product number on that?
