Really great pictures, well done (where did you find the Notitia Dignitatum reference for that unit too - dodgy dossier if there ever was one!)

Really well painted figures, and I really like the way you have done the 4 warbands. The late era Romans are great figures, and I must get more of mine painted.  That you had to use some MM figures for the Irish does highlight a bit of a gap in the Pendraken Dark ages range, as I had been looking at putting together some Saga warbands in 10mm but Welsh were hard to find figures for in PD ranges.

In the blog you mention washers for small bases - I found eBay is a good source for cheap washers I was able to get a couple of hundred 12mm washers for a quid or so. But it is strange that using coins is often cheaper than using washers!

I'll have to keep an eye out on ebay in future. The thought had'nt even occurred to me.

I suspect that the Late Roman Saxon figures could probably be used as Welsh - they are more or less generic spearmen with round shields. For a warlord you could use the Saxon leader from the Arthurian personalities pack (my Aethelwulf).

Any suggestions for appropriate buildings? I'm having trouble finding any Roman and/or Early medieval( dark ages) structures in 10mm.

The Baggage Train - some very nice 10mm buildings for this period.

I have a few of the small dark age houses, a Roman Watch tower and some tents. I saw their roman wall sets at Phalanx the other weekend and these look really good too.

Ordered some houses (I can use them for irregular Wars as well), now I need to find a wardog to complement my Saxons. Any suggestions?

For a big dog the Pendraken Wolf would work (Right hand of this photo)

There are also dogs in a couple of the modern ranges (Russian WWII and Aussie Vietnam IIRC)

hhmmmmm, still not happy with any of the 10mm war-dog options out there.

As I embark on a major scenery building drive, I've now started wondering about another two Arthurian warbands
i) some British light horsemen ---> ARL14 http://www.pendraken.co.uk/ARL14-p2703/#.UAhqOmFfFP0 and ARL12 http://www.pendraken.co.uk/ARL12-p2701/#.UAhqP2FfFP0
ii) further Anglo-Saxons. For these, I was wondering about how the Norse range might fit my existing chaps. Does anyone have any pictures of the Norse berserkers (NO5)?

Thanks

Next pay packet will allow me to justify such a small purchase to the wife/boss!  ;)

Justify to the wife? Ah, those modern marriages.  L-)

It used to be the other way round, you know. Still is for some of us, who honour our traditions.   8)

Aart, at this stage, I don't even have a debit card... :(

Still wont stop me buying up some Norse if I can see what the berserkers look like though. ;)

Can anyone advise what the chaps in the Norse command pack is holding. I see two spearmen, a horn blower, a chap with a sword and someone else. Does he have an axe? Is there a shield on his back?

I'm happy to say that my SAM-in-10mm project has reached 'a' complete stage. It may still grow, but I now feel I have a good range of figures to get some fine gaming in.

Superb stuff!  :D
Okay, question time:
1) Where is the priest in picture 1 from?
2) WHere does the young lady on horseback in picture three come from?
3) Picture 3 again, Boar standard is in which range?
