Ah...err...correction incoming.
What has happened here is that this list has been developed using the as-yet unreleased second edition rules.
I'll issue a corrected 1st ed version asap.

Well, I've got it all wrong. My army is going to be 4 "legions". Each legion will be 2 x 36 figure hoplite units, plus 1 x 36 figure  Iphicratean hoplite (peltast). Here I have a full unit of the  lighter troops, plus a half of one of the "proper" hoplites. (I'm sticking decals on the shield of the others in the unit.)

I've upgraded a couple of the warriors' shields to something a between a pelta and an aspis.

Also seen are a couple of troops of witches. I have a view that they will have the stone head (don't know how they move it around with them) but if they pray really, really hard, it can take the form of the goddess.

I'm pondering giving the lighter troops a javelin ability - just to get some missile troops onto the mix.

Was also pondering adding a chariot or two.    It's for an "of Gods and Mortals" type game.

Currently on getting the art done for it.

First "legion" done. The "Red" legion. Starting the second the "blue" legion. Also going to do a yellow and a black. Thinking of naming them "Fire", "Water", "Sun" and "Night" or something more romantic than just the colour.

Lovely figures to paint , even getting quite good at putting on the shield decals.

If you name things after "Fire" or "Sun" then I get - horrible stereotyping alert - a real East Asian vibe. i.e. there's a Japanese/Chinese/Korean influence somewhere. Probably from watching too much Avatar: The Last Airbender.

But I appreciate that that's a "me" problem.

Plan b is Amazon Queen names - but I'll never remember them. What colour is Hippolyta?
Plan c would be the shield emblems - but the red and the blue are both going to be horse based
Plan d is just to use the shield colour - red, blue, yellow, black
Plan e would be goddess names - is Hera red? Or yellow? 

Actually some research would suggest that Aphrodite - red, pink, seafoam green; Artemis white or green, Athene - royal blue, white, grey, yellow, red; Hera - purple, dark green, royal blue, silver, white, gold. So pretty much whatever.

OK ... red - Aphrodite's Avengers; blue - Athene's Aegis-bearers ; Purple - Hera's Heroines; Green Artemis's Ares-kickers
