Back at the end of 2025, John Lowen of Ironclad Miniatures decided to retire and passed his business to us here at Pendraken.  He'd been a fan of the Hyperborean mythology for a while and had commissioned a range of miniatures a couple of years ago.

The plan was to run a crowdfunder for them before he finished up, but life got in the way and he was only able to put them into master moulds and have a set painted by Cornish Mikey (which he's allowed us to use in these photos).

Now that his business is with us, we've agreed to get this project sorted for him and get these excellent miniatures out into the world!  The funding will go towards making all of the production moulds, and the initial production run.  And a share of the money raised here will go straight back to John for his retirement.  We've set the target very low so that this campaign will definitely get fulfilled!

To get involved, head over to Kickstarter and take a look here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pendraken/beyond-boreas And please pass this on to anyone you think might be interested in these too!

Did I see the word 'Amazon' in there somewhere?  :o  :-\

Very tempting. Look very good for Frostgrave and similar skirmish games.

Do we know what height the figures are?

They're regular 28mm figures so should be 28mm to the eye / 30mm-ish overall.  I'll take some measurements at work and make sure for you.

I thought you might spot that!  I've pushed our other Amazons to the front of the queue for you, so the moulds will be getting made this coming week.  There's one code (cavalry) that needs a bit of work, but we should be good to release those within about 10 days I'd think?

Look great, although too big for me.

Question: Why "Celtic Warriors"? Surely they should be Picts?

Probably a copyright safeguard. As we have discovered when pulling together some of the FWCII army lists, some of the older estates, such as those of HG Wells or Edgar Rice Burroughs have modern copyright on certain terms coined by the authors.
Although I suspect it would be hard to defend 'Picts' in that manner.

Just a thought.  :)

Have to agree these look very nice.

Though if the Celtic Warriors wear blue woad shouldn't they be called "Rangers"?  :-\  :)

I don't think the Picts are mentioned in Hyperborean mythology?  I'll need to check on that, but that's what John called them.

The Pictish Wilderness is west ofAquilonia, between it and the coast.

Basically a way for Howard to re-write a French & Indian War-style tale into the Conan stories.

It might have been a way to keep these separate from the Conan side of things then?
